00:00October is a piece of world cinema, I feel. I wouldn't only call it a Hindi film. I feel

00:11it lends itself to a far, far more wider audience, you know. And it's a great time for a film

00:17like October to come. It's a great time for Sujit Sarkar to launch a newcomer and for

00:22this story to be told. I think in 2018 is the right time when we're all so obsessed

00:27with our phones, when technology has almost taken over our life. We're actually sitting

00:31and listening to someone or sitting and paying time, or sitting and spending time with someone

00:37is just put on the back burner. I think a film like October is the right time to come

00:41for everyone.

00:42I mean, he's a filmmaker I've always wanted to work with. Right from Yaha, his body of

00:49work has been exceptional. And to team up with him on a film which he's wanted to make

00:53probably from 2004. So it's like a passion project for the director. Unko kahaani boli

00:59nahi bolni hai. So I was like, man, this guy's charged, you know, he's not going to compromise

01:03on anything when he makes this film. Let's go for it.

01:08Technically, I didn't have to audition. But I do feel in hindsight that Sujit sir used

01:13that double mint ad, that week of shooting as my audition for October, because he saw

01:18how I was performing those few days. And then he said, Okay, listen, I want you to do this

01:22film. But for me, I mean, I suck at auditioning. Like I really do crumble under pressure. So

01:28it was the best way to get my first film, to be honest.

01:33I think it does exist. And in fact, the stories taken from real life incident itself, maybe

01:40not which happened in 2017 or 16 sometime back. It does exist. People like that do exist.

01:46It's just that we don't think they're cool enough to hang out with probably. I'm talking

01:50about our strata of society. We don't chill with them. They're not on our WhatsApp. So

01:55they're not in our friends list on Facebook or whatever. So but there are people like

01:59that. Yeah. And for them, sometimes that becomes their life.
