00:00Hundreds of volunteers, including families and their children, gathered on Saturday at
00:10Al-Bum tourist village to help pack thousands of school kids bound for conflict-affected
00:15Syria.
00:16The activity is part of the Dubai Cares Volunteer Emirates 2017 campaign.
00:20The school kids will be distributed to 50,000 displaced Syrian children currently living
00:25in Jordan, ahead of the beginning of the new school year.
00:28It's a sense of giving and I think my kids also need to learn this.
00:32So I want them to do a lot of volunteer work.
00:35I find that it is really something they need to learn.
00:38It's a wonderful way for us youngsters to spend our energy and for the less fortunate.
00:42We wanted to be closer to the needed people and they offered the opportunity so we registered
00:48as soon as the ad came on.
00:50We are part of the team all together to be able to do that today and very happy.
00:53It is really good as it is Ramadan I was able to get more blessings from God so I would
00:58like to do this more.
00:59It's so good especially since it's Ramadan, it's a month of giving, so time is precious
01:05and we are giving our time to this wonderful cause.
01:07I wanted to help a lot because I've been seeing what's going on around the world so I want
01:12to help out.
01:13It's a pleasure to be a part of Dubai Cares, it's a wonderful initiative and the people
01:17are doing a brilliant job.
01:18This is a very good initiative that Dubai Cares is taking up.
01:21I have been in the part of this for about two years and I would like to take up more
01:26initiatives.
01:27ARIQ AL GURJ, Chief Executive Officer at Dubai Cares, kicked off the initiative and
01:32joined the volunteers in packing the school kits.
01:35Let's show Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm al-Kahwai, Fujairah, all the Emirates
01:40and Ras al-Khaimah what volunteering is all about and it's all about you guys.
01:44Thank you very much.
01:45Organizers expect a total of 3,000 volunteers to help pack the school kits until June 22.
