00:00The Roads and Transport Authority launched the 6th edition of the Public Transport Day

00:13on Sunday, coinciding with RTA's 10th anniversary.

00:17Public Transport Day is an initiative that aims to improve the environment, achieve sustainable

00:22development and encourage people to use public transport.

00:26This year's highlights include the awarding of 50 grams gold bars to the most frequent

00:31users of Dubai Metro and public buses.

00:34Frequent users were divided into five categories, with each trip by a commuter getting 50 points.

00:39Commuters with a minimum of 20 trips in the last 10 days qualified as candidates for the

00:44awards.

00:45Other prizes include Nol Gold Cards, Beats Headphones, Apple Watches and MacBooks.

00:50Prizes were also given away through daily draws and social media contests.

00:53Busy drivers with impeccable records were also rewarded cash prizes of 20,000 dirhams

00:58each.

00:59Activities on Public Transport Day including blood donation camps, free health checks,

01:03an open gym activity at Burj Plaza and a public transport marathon for government departments.
