00:11Cyclone Chapala has hit Yemen and Oman's coastline, as strong winds and heavy rains

00:15are expected to dump more than a year's worth of rainfall on the coasts. So far, one

00:19person was killed and nine injured on the Yemeni island of Socotra. Many Omani residents

00:24in the south have been evacuated to safer areas.

00:27Omani's ruling AKP party has won a critical parliamentary election, regaining the majority

00:32it lost in June. With almost all ballots counted, the AKP has won 49.4% of the vote, with the

00:38main opposition, CHP, on 25.4%. Erdogan called the vote after the AKP lost its parliamentary

00:45majority for the first time in 13 years in June, and attempts to form a coalition government

00:52Dubai's pro-republic Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has scrapped knights and dames from

00:56the nation's honor system. Less than a year after a furor sparked by the award of a knighthood

01:01to Prince Philip, Queen Elizabeth's husband, former Prime Minister Tony Abbott, a staunch

01:06monarchist, reintroduced the antiquated honors in 2014, provoking criticism that he was out

01:12of touch with public sentiment. Abbott was ousted by Turnbull and a party coup in September.

01:17Manny Pacquiao, Filipino world champion professional boxer, will arrive in Dubai this evening and

01:22will be received by Saeed Harib, General Secretary of Dubai's Sports Council. A number of public

01:27appearances have been lined up for the icon during the week, including launching two stores
