00:00Art lovers in Dubai converge at Souq Madinat for Art Dubai, an initiative by the Dubai

00:16Culture and Arts Authority featuring week-long activities to celebrate arts and culture.

00:21Art Dubai is the region's oldest and largest art fair.

00:25The 9th edition has 92 galleries from 40 countries showcasing works by over 500 local

00:30and international artists, making it the world's most global art fair.

00:35The fair also hosts diverse non-commercial programs, ranging from the Global Art Forum

00:40and commission-site-specific artworks to art workshops for children and tours for new collectors.

00:46Art Dubai also has the largest showcase of contemporary Arab art in the world.

00:51Art Dubai also has been growing over the years and it's little by little reaching its own

00:56maturity, its own niche, its own specificity.

00:59As much as there is this international feeling to the whole thing, there is the local feeling

01:03that's growing also because you have galleries from the region also, lots of them, mixed

01:08with all those other galleries.

01:10And another feature is that there are galleries from outside coming to open in Dubai.

01:15That will add a lot to the scene of galleries and culture here.

01:20The Art Dubai Contemporary segment features 72 galleries, many presenting solo and two-person

01:26shows by established and emerging contemporary artists.

01:29The Modern section, unique to Art Dubai, features the works of influential artists of the 20th

01:35century, especially from the 1940s to the 1980s.

01:38This year, 15 galleries are displaying solo or two-person shows by modern masters from

01:43Africa, the Middle East and South Asia.

01:46The Markers section focuses on Latin America this year.
