00:00What do we do? We're here in Orlando's Chippy opposite Kelvin Remark Gallery about two hours

00:11before the Michelin ceremony and we're having a Chippy. We are because we both went to the

00:16Michelin Guide last year and we realised that there isn't actually as much food as you would

00:20think at the Michelin Guide. So the event, the ceremony tonight, the top chefs from the

00:28UK and Ireland have been invited to attend. Every Michelin star chef has been given an

00:33invitation. They're all going to descend shortly across the road at the Kelvingrove. But there

00:39won't be many Chips so we're getting that in early. What do you expect to happen tonight,

00:44Roj? What are we thinking about in terms of Scotland awards? So for Scotland I would expect

00:50at least a couple of stars. I think they're going to be in Edinburgh. We might be a bit

00:54of a wild card from Glasgow, I'm not sure. But yeah, I would think at least two more

00:58one-star restaurants in Edinburgh and I would expect everyone to retain their stars as well.

01:06Is that chip really hot? It is really hot, yeah. But it's very good, very tasty stuff.

01:11The Michelin Guide, essentially, there's about 1,200 entries. It's supposed to be, if you're

01:17travelling around the UK and Ireland, these are the places that are worth detouring to,

01:22the places worth stopping off. Glasgow currently has two one-Michelin star restaurants, Unilone

01:28by Graham Chevers and Kalbrook. We're expecting them to still have their stars by the end

01:33of tonight, right? Yeah, yeah. And Scotland had 12. I reckon it's going to drop down to

01:3811 but that's purely because the cellar in Anstruther closed and it's reopened as something

01:42else but it won't have a Michelin star anymore. So yeah, we'll see what happens.

01:47Bib Gourmand is another award that wouldn't necessarily be announced tonight but that's

01:52for good value restaurants and that's where Glasgow's had some success recently because

01:57we've had two more restaurants added, correct? I think so, yeah. And there's a lot of them

02:02so Scotland could see a lot more added or, yeah, it's a bit more accessible.

02:09But mostly it's just a bunch of chefs that are congratulating themselves on their success

02:15and it's a big industry night and there'll be lots of folk from the telly there and stuff

02:21like that and then they go on to an after party which this year is going to be at the

02:25Old Fruit Market. So in that way, you know, basically transporting the high-res longs

02:33of UK and Ireland hospitality to here, one of the best landmarks in the city, then take

02:40them off for some drinks and a party later. It's a good showcase for the city and for

02:46Scotland. What do you think about, like, in terms of how was this organised? How did Michelin

02:52end up in Glasgow having a party in a museum? On Monday night at the museum. Scotland Food

02:59and Drink got involved so we met them there last year and had a wee chat but they've obviously

03:04put a pitch in to Michelin to say come here, there's been some funding given to bring them

03:08here and yeah, like you say, it's a great showcase for Glasgow. There'll be lots and

03:12lots and lots of very skilled chefs coming up and they might take the time after to go

03:17and visit suppliers or stockists and just sort of see what else Scotland has to offer.

03:21Oh yeah, because this is actually a big night for Scottish brands and produce as well because

03:25all through this evening you'll have the top chefs and they'll have an opportunity to try

03:30different types of drinks and food or just network with people who are hopefully, obviously

03:35hoping to have their produce on the, in the kitchens in some of the top restaurants.

03:42So that makes it quite an interesting night as well for brands, even kind of smaller brands

03:46as well. You're going to a breakfast event tomorrow. What do you know about that?

03:53So there's a breakfast event at BAD in the East End tomorrow. The main guy from Michelin

03:59is going to be there doing a talk on stage. There's going to be Jason Atherton and Julie

04:03Lynn's hosting. It's sort of a breakdown on what it means for Scotland as well as what's

04:08happened tonight. I think there's a few sort of breakaway conversations with different

04:12businesses and chefs and stuff. So it'll be good. Half nine in the morning though.
