00:00U.S. President Donald Trump signed a Gulf of America Day proclamation aboard Air Force

00:05One on Sunday.

00:07Trump was on his way to the Super Bowl game between Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia

00:11Eagles in New Orleans, flying over the area he was renaming, known to others as the Gulf

00:17of Mexico.

00:18We're flying right over it right now.

00:21So we thought this would be appropriate.

00:22Even bigger than the Super Bowl.

00:23This is a big thing.

00:24And almost everybody now has assented to that.

00:31Attention on board.

00:32Ladies and gentlemen, if you could please direct your attention out the right side of

00:33the aircraft.

00:34Air Force One is currently in international waters.

00:35The first time in history flying over the recently renamed Gulf of America.

00:36Wow.

00:37He did that well.

00:49As Trump was speaking to the press, the pilot announced they were flying over the Gulf of

00:53America.

00:54The proclamation was published on the White House's website on the same day.

00:59Last month, the Trump administration said it had officially changed the name of the

01:03Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America and the Alaskan peak Denali to Mount McKinley.

01:09Trump ordered the name changes as part of a flurry of executive actions hours after

01:14taking office to fulfill his campaign promises in the presidential election last year.

01:20While Trump can direct the U.S. Geological Survey to change how it denotes the Gulf of

01:24Mexico, such a name change would be unlikely to be recognized internationally.

01:30Google Maps said it will change the name of Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America once it

01:35is officially updated in the U.S. geographic name system.

01:39The change will be visible in the U.S., but it will remain Gulf of Mexico in Mexico.
