00:07Details in the news of the country of Bien Manalo by PTV.
00:13Rolly Fausto has been a taxi driver for more than 20 years.
00:17This was his way to meet the needs of his family and to educate his children.
00:24But just last month, he was hospitalized due to over fatigue.
00:32I just felt that my body was weak. I just felt sleepy, so I went to sleep.
00:38That's all we do.
00:40But he is very thankful because he was not paid for his stay in the hospital for two days.
00:47This is because of the Zero Billing Program of the government.
00:51It's a big thing for our country. It's very helpful.
00:57A group is encouraging the Zero Billing Program to become a law
01:02that will greatly help our fellow Filipinos.
01:06Priority in the program are low-income individuals in government hospitals
01:10under the Medical Assistance to Indigent and Financially Incapacitated Patients
01:16or MAEFIB Program of the Department of Health.
01:19If the Zero Billing Program becomes a law,
01:22the professional fee of the doctor will not be included in the patient's payment,
01:26aside from the hospital bills and other important medical services
01:31such as chemotherapy, dialysis, dental services, and laboratory procedures.
01:37This is a good way for our countrymen not to struggle
01:45when they need enough medicine but don't have enough money.
01:49Our countrymen are at the end of the problem.
01:53The Zero Billing Program is just one of the initiatives of the administration
01:57of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
01:59in promoting and strengthening the healthcare system of the Philippines.
02:04In fact, during his day last year,
02:08President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ordered the Health Department
02:12to fund all in-patient, out-patient, and emergency services
02:17in 22 public hospitals across the country.
02:20More than P300 million was allocated for this.
02:24What are we aiming for now?
02:26First, to reduce the price of medicines.
02:30Second, to free all hospitals so that we can implement what we call Zero Billing.
02:38We are also monitoring our poor countrymen
02:42who need the support of their relatives.
02:46In addition, the group is also supporting the bill
02:50to remove the value-added tax on all medicines
02:53which is a huge reduction in the cost of our countrymen.
