00:00
Good afternoon from Pag-asa Weather Forecasting Center.
00:03
This is our update for the upcoming 24 hours.
00:08
We can see here in our latest satellite images,
00:12
this thick cloud in the northern part of the Luzon
00:16
is the continuous effect of the shear line or convergence
00:20
of hot and cold winds.
00:22
At the moment, this shear line is affecting a large part of the southern Luzon.
00:29
For the next 24 hours, we will experience a high chance of clouds and rain
00:35
in a large part of our country,
00:37
particularly here in the area of Eastern Visayas, Bicol Region,
00:41
the whole Calabar Zone, the whole of Mimaropa,
00:44
and here in the province of Aurora.
00:47
In a large part of the central and northern Luzon,
00:50
including Metro Manila,
00:51
we will experience clouds and rain brought by the northeast monsoon
00:56
or the cold winds.
00:58
For the rest of the country, in the rest of Visayas and the rest of Mindanao,
01:02
our prevailing weather system is easterly.
01:04
We will experience high chances of clouds and rain,
01:07
hot and cold winds in the areas of Caraga and Davao Region.
01:11
In the meantime, we will experience a part of clouds and rain
01:14
and a chance of thunderstorms in a large part of Visayas
01:19
and in a large part of Mindanao.
01:21
At the moment, we are not monitoring the low-pressure area
01:23
or the bad weather inside and outside our park
01:26
where there may be thunderstorms in the coming days.
01:29
This is our latest weather advisory issued as of 5 p.m. today.
01:35
For the next 24 hours,
01:36
we will experience strong rains along the shoreline,
01:39
moderate to heavy rains,
01:41
or 50 to 100 mm of rain possible
01:45
in the areas shaded by yellow.
01:49
In the provinces of Quezon, Camarines Norte, and Camarines Sur.
01:53
These rains will start this afternoon until tomorrow afternoon.
01:57
By Sunday afternoon to Monday afternoon,
02:01
more areas will experience rain.
02:04
The axis of our shoreline will shift southward or downward.
02:10
That's why you will experience rain in this part
02:12
or you will experience strong rains in the eastern section of Visayas.
02:16
Moderate to heavy rains are also possible here in Quezon,
02:19
Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur,
02:21
Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon,
02:24
and in the northern and eastern suburbs.
02:27
By Monday afternoon to Tuesday afternoon,
02:30
we expect a northward shift
02:33
or the axis of our shoreline will shift southward.
02:36
That's why the areas here in Central Luzon,
02:39
in the province of Aurora,
02:41
will also experience heavy rains along the shoreline.
02:44
We hope that the heavy rains brought by this weather season
02:48
will continue in some areas of Southern Luzon.
02:50
Heavy to intense rains are the areas shaded by orange
02:53
in the provinces of Quezon and Camarines Norte.
02:56
Moderate to heavy rains can be experienced
02:59
in some areas shaded by yellow,
03:03
particularly in the provinces of Aurora,
03:05
Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, and Northern Samar.
03:10
That's why in the mentioned areas,
03:12
especially in the areas of Quezon and Bicol Region,
03:15
for the next three days,
03:16
we need to be ready and alert
03:18
to the risks of flooding and landslides
03:20
because we still hope that the rain will continue
03:23
and that it will be possible to experience it.
03:28
This is the time of day tomorrow here in Luzon.
03:31
A large part of Luzon, including Metro Manila,
03:33
will experience a dark time and a high chance of rain.
03:37
The areas of Calabarzon, Mimaropa, and Bicol Region,
03:41
including the areas of Aurora,
03:42
will experience a high chance of heavy rain and thunderstorms
03:46
because of the shear line or the convergence of hot and cold winds.
03:50
For Metro Manila and the rest of Northern and Central Luzon,
03:53
the floods are associated with the Northeast Monsoon
03:57
or the cold winds.
03:58
If we will experience rain,
04:00
these are the light rains in Pagkambon only,
04:02
especially here in the area of Ilocos Region
04:05
where we expect fair weather or clear skies.
04:10
For the areas of Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao,
04:13
the entire Palawan, Visayas, and Eastern section of Mindanao
04:17
will experience a high chance of rain
04:20
because starting tomorrow,
04:21
we expect a southward shift or a downward shift of the shear line.
04:27
That's why a large part of Visayas and Palawan
04:30
will experience heavy and continuous rains.
04:36
Continuous floods and rains will occur in the Eastern section of Mindanao,
04:40
in the areas of Caraga and Davao Region.
04:43
Meanwhile, for the rest of Mindanao,
04:45
the Central and Western sections of Mindanao
04:48
will continue to experience clear skies tomorrow,
04:51
except for the chances of sudden and quick rains
04:55
caused by thunderstorms.
04:58
And for the situation of our ocean,
04:59
as of 5 p.m. today, we have a gale warning
05:02
in several cities of our country.
05:05
We expect high seas in the areas of Batanes,
05:09
in Cagayan, along with Mabuhayan Islands,
05:12
Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan,
05:16
in the area of Isabela,
05:18
in the Western coast of Zambales,
05:21
in Aurora, Kalayaan Islands,
05:26
in the Northern coast of Quezon,
05:29
along with Polilio Islands,
05:31
in Camarines Norte,
05:33
Northern coast of Camarines Sur,
05:35
Northern and Eastern coasts of Catanduanes,
05:38
Eastern coast of Albay,
05:40
Eastern coast of Sorsogon,
05:42
and the Northern coast of Northern Samar.
05:45
So to our fellow fishermen
05:47
and those who have small boats
05:50
and the aforementioned seaboards,
05:51
let's not go too far,
05:53
because we will experience high seas
05:55
with strong winds.
05:57
For the rest of Luzon and Visayas,
05:59
moderate to strong
06:01
or moderate to strong
06:03
in the waves that we may experience,
06:05
so be careful also
06:07
to our fellow fishermen and fishermen
06:09
in a large part of Luzon and Visayas.
06:12
And for our 3-day weather outlook
06:15
in the neighboring areas of our country,
06:17
this area of Luzon will experience
06:19
rain until early next week
06:22
on Mondays and Tuesdays.
06:25
This is combined with the effect of
06:26
shoreline and northeast monsoon.
06:27
Metro Manila, Baguio, and Legazpi
06:30
will experience heavy rainfall
06:32
and high chance of rain on these days.
06:35
So I repeat,
06:37
this area of the Bicol Region,
06:38
let's be prepared for the chance
06:40
of flash floods and landslides
06:42
because for the past days,
06:44
we have witnessed significant rainfall
06:46
in this area.
06:47
It's possible that the soil is saturated.
06:49
Even if we experience rain,
06:51
even if it's just light rain,
06:52
it's still possible for it to flood
06:54
and the chances of landslides are high.
06:57
By Wednesday next week,
06:59
we expect improving weather conditions
07:01
in a large part of Luzon.
07:03
Fair weather is expected
07:05
aside from the chances of thunderstorms
07:08
brought by the storm
07:09
in the northern and central areas of Luzon
07:11
and the chances of thunderstorms
07:13
in the southern areas of Luzon.
07:15
Here in Visayas,
07:16
in the areas of Metro Cebu,
07:18
Iloilo City, and Tacloban City,
07:20
because of the shoreline,
07:21
from Monday to Tuesday,
07:22
the chances of floods and landslides
07:24
will continue.
07:25
We expect improving weather conditions
07:28
by Wednesday
07:29
aside from the chances of floods
07:31
and landslides brought by thunderstorms.
07:34
Here in Mindanao,
07:36
especially the eastern section of Mindanao,
07:39
Caragat, Davao Region,
07:40
the rainy season will continue.
07:43
The chances of floods
07:45
and scattered thunderstorms are high
07:48
because of the easterlies
07:49
or the hot winds from the Pacific Ocean.
07:52
The hot and rainy season
07:53
will continue for most of Mindanao
07:55
especially in the areas
07:57
of Cagayan de Oro and Zamboanga City.
08:00
Even though the weather is clear,
08:02
we will still bring raincoats
08:04
because from late afternoon to evening,
08:06
the chances of isolated rain showers
08:10
or localized thunderstorms are still there.
08:12
Here in Manila,
08:13
the sun will set at 5.58 p.m.
08:17
and will rise tomorrow at 6.22 a.m.
08:22
