'Living on a miracle': Palestinians face harsh realities as ceasefire brings little relief in Gaza

Following the Israel-Hamas ceasefire, 22-year-old Palestinian Mohammed made the long journey to Gaza's north on foot with his family after 15 months of displacement. There, he found his home destroyed, he told Euronews.

00:00Three weeks into the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, over half a million Palestinians

00:07were finally able to return to their homes in northern Gaza. 22-year-old Mohammed, like

00:13many others, made the long journey north on foot with his family after 15 months of displacement.

00:20Despite limited access to Internet and electricity, Euronews spoke to Mohammed about how his life

00:26has changed since he returned home just one week ago.

00:56But once they arrived, the home that took Mohammed's family almost his whole life to

01:06obtain was in ruins.

01:26Mohammed explains that his family was displaced four times since the start of the war, living

01:38in makeshift tents with little protection from the cold and rain. They returned home

01:43to have a roof over their heads, but now they fear it may collapse on them at any moment.

01:49Accessing food, water and health care has become even more difficult since his return,

01:54despite the increase in humanitarian aid coming into Gaza.

02:25Although humanitarian organizations have increased their presence in the north, the complete

02:30absence of infrastructure means some areas remain impossible to reach. This has meant

02:36that thousands of people like Mohammed and his family still have little access to essential

02:40items. Despite the dire conditions, Mohammed, like many other Palestinians, said he has

02:46no intention of leaving his home.
