00:04assured that he will solve the disease or problem that he is facing in the agency.

00:10He will also focus on expanding the benefit packages and services.

00:22I just look at the PhilHealth that has a disease and I also know what the cure is.

00:28To cure the disease that is being addressed by the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation of PhilHealth,

00:34they will appoint a new PhilHealth President, Dr. Edwin Mercado, as the financial report of the agency.

00:41His goal is to address the expenses, wasted funds, and where it should be used

00:46to increase the efficiency of the agency and to implement the necessary reforms

00:52such as digitalization that will monitor the investigation and approval of the claims submitted by the healthcare facilities.

01:01This will be given to address the possible anomalies in the claims

01:06so that the right funds can be used and the agency's services can be improved.

01:11Just like expanding the benefit packages or medical services that can be used or claimed in PhilHealth.

01:18I would like to point out that the 20 or 30 diseases that are more harmful

01:24are not necessarily the ones that cause catastrophic spending.

01:29So, I will also look at the data on the harmful diseases that cause catastrophic spending

01:36and we will probably focus on that first.

01:3945% to 47% or almost half of the hospital expenses are paid by a patient every time they get sick.

01:49PhilHealth wants to reduce this to 30% so that the Philippines can have a better economy.
