00:00PhilHealth's initiatives will continue, especially in the implementation of universal healthcare.

00:05Now, they have a new leader, Claycel Pardilla, in detail.

00:13The new leader of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, PhilHealth,

00:18President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.,

00:21was appointed by Dr. Edwin Mercado as the President and Chief Executive Officer of PhilHealth.

00:27This was followed by his inauguration in front of President R. Marcos in Malacaña.

00:32Mercado replaced Emanuel Ledesma Jr.,

00:36who served as President of PhilHealth for more than a year.

00:40PhilHealth's new leader has 35 years of experience in hospital management.

00:46He was the Vice Chairman of the Mercado General Hospital Qualimed Health Network

00:50since March 2021,

00:52and a regular faculty lecturer at the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health.

00:57He studies the expenses of each member for the global coverage of inpatient services

01:02and promotes the use of artificial intelligence

01:06to community health workers

01:08in the distribution of primary care to the injured.

01:11PhilHealth followed Mercado's leadership

01:15with deep experience in the medical field.

01:18The agency is positive that PhilHealth's initiatives will continue,

01:23particularly the implementation of universal health care

01:27that provides decent medical services to Filipinos.

01:35congratulated Mercado

01:37and thanked Ledesma for his service.

01:41Meanwhile, the former PNP Major General Isagani Neres

01:44was appointed by the President

01:47as the new leader of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency,
