Exploring the mythology of the dragon through dance

South Korean choreographer Eun-Me Ahn is promising a joyful riot of dance, music and non-stop movement as she heads to the UK for her longest tour here yet.

00:00Good morning, my name is Phil Hewitt, Group Arts Editor at Sussex Newspapers. Well, this

00:06is exciting, talking to Eunmi, who is currently in South Korea for the moment, but before

00:12long is heading to the UK for a two-month tour, eight cities, taking in Southampton,

00:18the Mayflower. It's a big tour with your contemporary dance company, and the show is Dragons. And

00:25you were saying this is your biggest tour to the UK. That's exciting, isn't it?

00:30Yes, very much. We are all company dancers, everybody is so excited because it's the first

00:36time to meet all people over there.

00:40Were you looking for new territories, new experiences? Why is it happening?

00:47Because it's something culture, it's like to see people, not reading anything. When

00:58you be there, it's a completely different experience you're going to get. Doesn't matter

01:03we are performing or not, but be there is very important for us. That's why.

01:09Good, it sounds very exciting. And do we need to know something about the company beforehand?

01:15Or can we just walk in the theatre, watch and enjoy?

01:18No, I love surprise. They're going to be surprised. And then definitely they will have something

01:25from us, which is all Dragons. Young people are going to deliver it to beautiful mind

01:31and heart and the effort and the love.

01:35And the point is Dragons, that means something specific to you. What does Dragon mean in

01:41your company?

01:42It means reading some stories. It makes creation, the power of creation. It never stops. It

01:49makes everything can be possible. That's the symbolic idea for us.

01:55It sounds super. It sounds brilliant. It's coming to the UK, including Southampton. Really
