Pan Trinbago's Youth Arm was inactive for a while, but the good news is that it has been relaunched.
It is expected to create a platform for young pannists to grow in a number of ways.

00:00Among the main objectives of the newly relaunched Pantranbego Youth Arm are
00:04mentorship programs, sustainability, community engagement and global
00:09opportunities. There is also a focus on technology and innovation all aimed at
00:15empowering young panists. Pantranbego President Beverly Ramsey Moore says the
00:20organization's constitution provides for a youth arm committee of about four
00:25people but it was felt that an enlarged structure was important to creating the
00:30desired impact on young musicians. And so we agreed in the central executive to
00:37have this wider youth arm committee and within that committee we have the
00:43members and we have the team leaders. Now the team leaders will coordinate youth
00:52activities within the various regions. That applies to south-central, eastern,
00:58northern and the Tobago regions. Ramsey Moore refers to them as the vision
01:03carriers for stimulating youth development. But the largest category of
01:09young people that you can find anywhere is in the steel band movement. The
01:16largest category. And when we talk about the largest category we talk about
01:23grassroots youth. The youth that you really really want to impact on is the
01:31grassroots youth. Minister of Tourism, Culture and the Arts Randall Mitchell
01:34states that a youth arm is building on the growing momentum of the recognition
01:39of the national instrument over the past few years. To him the relaunch is no
01:44surprise given the youth-oriented environment Pantranbego has been
01:48fostering. Where young people are not just mere participants. Young people now
01:56play a significant role in decision-making, in organizing and in
02:03shaping this organization with their fresh ideas, fresh energy and a bold
02:11vision. He is charging the youth arm with the responsibility of spreading the
02:16culture among the younger generation in part through its community engagement.
02:20And whether that community is within the primary and secondary schools, within our
02:28traditional panyards, this youth arm must attract our young, your young peers and
02:36increase youth involvement in an organized manner under the umbrella of
02:42Pantranbego. You will play an important and positive role in providing
02:49alternative and more positive pathways for young people away from crime and
02:56criminality. The ceremony marking the youth arms relaunch took place at the
03:02Radisson Hotel.
