00:00The National Food Security Emergency has been declared in Martes.

00:05According to Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tio Laurel Jr.,

00:09he has already received a resolution,

00:11which states that the NFA RISE will start selling rice to the whole country as soon as possible on Wednesday

00:17with the help of local governments and government agencies.

00:23Laurel is determined that this will not only help to lower the price of rice in the market,

00:28but also to prepare the farmers for the future.

00:36I received my office yesterday while I was still in the U.S.,

00:40the resolution that I have to sign as part of the board.

00:49Then by Tuesday, we will be declaring the RISE emergency.

00:55I will be meeting with the NFA, actually with FDI and KADIWA

01:00to look at the plans on the rollout.

01:04But most likely, that's how it will be.

01:06Well, number one, that is very welcome

01:09because the warehouses will be reduced

01:12and we will be happy that the farmers will be able to buy NFA rice from them

01:19because they have a warehouse.

01:20And releasing 300,000 tons of rice to the market within six months,

01:27I think will ease the, you know, soften the market,

01:32and hopefully lower the price of rice.

01:35Let's look at it as Luzon.

01:38It's still Luzon because it still has the most supply.

01:41Although in Mindanao, in the Sultan Kudarat area,

01:44there are a lot of stocks there, so a lot will be released there.

01:48Actually, there are a lot of stocks in Iloilo.
