00:00Hi I'm Robert Godwin, I'm the CEO of Lambton Group. At Room 2 we're building some of the UK's
00:08most sustainable urban hotels. We're not just passionate about hospitality but also about
00:13leading the movement to protect our planet. Join me as I take you on a behind-the-scenes tour of
00:17Room 2 Belfast. Room 2 Belfast is Northern Ireland's first hotel. Hotels are flexible
00:22living spaces without the hotel rulebook. They combine the comfort and the flexibility of their
00:27own home with the best bits of the hotel. With 175 bedrooms, four collaborative event spaces,
00:32a trendy Winnie's cafe and bar, a tea room, art gallery and a welcoming lobby. Room 2 is
00:37award-winning, B Corp certified, Green Tourism gold rated and sitting at number one on TripAdvisor.
00:42From the very start every part of our design and operation minimises waste and maximises
00:47efficiencies. The building runs on 100% electric renewable energy. By combining efficiency-seeking
00:52hard and software technologies with nature-based carbon offsetting, we're an operationally carbon
00:57neutral business. We're fully committed to a circular economy too. We do this by avoiding,
01:02reducing and recirculating our waste streams. In our Winnie's cafe we offer locally sourced and
01:07organic food with over 50% of the items on the menu being vegetarian or vegan. We use low VOC
01:13paints for the walls and we have plant-based toxic-free cleaning products for the rest of the
01:17hotel. We use upcycled furniture, recycled materials, long-lasting fixtures and we join
01:23forces with suppliers and partners who think the same way as us. You can see these around all of
01:27our hotels from our welcome desk made from old shampoo bottles to lampshades made with orange
01:32peel and tiles made from waste glass. These are carpets which are all made of recycled fishing nets
01:37and biophilia is a really big part of the internal space here. Biophilia brings a lot of environmental
01:42and social benefits, cleans the air, it looks beautiful, really enhances the mood. So this is
01:47one of our suites. Health and well-being is one of our three core sustainability pillars and there's
01:51lots of ways in this room that we deliver that. We're very focused on using natural materials
01:55with almost no plastic in sight. We've got live edge tables, rope lampshades and we use local
01:59linen suppliers to do our fabrics. We have kitchens as part of the hotel offer and that enables guests
02:04to cook their own healthy meals. We have the option to fill up your own milk bottle downstairs
02:07whatever type of milk that you want. So recycling across the building is a given. So we designed and
02:11actually manufactured our own bins so we could separate mixed recycling from food waste and
02:14general waste. We also have a zero waste to landfill policy which ensures that we reuse and recycle
02:19our waste before it's taken to generate electricity and at the heart of well-being is just getting a
02:24good night's sleep. So we offer all of our guests the choice between a soft and firm mattress before
02:28they arrive. Room 2 Belfast celebrates the very best of local creative talent. We use bespoke art
02:33throughout the guest journey that forges a connection to the city. At room 2 we make it effortless for
02:38solo travellers, families and business guests to make a positive impact on the environment without
02:42sacrificing comfort. At our core we believe in a sustainable future and we know our guests do too.
02:47We believe that the future of hospitality is responsible hospitality so join us on our
02:52journey as we make a difference one stay at a time.
