00:00The Philippine Coast Guard or PECG responded to a medical emergency involving Philippine
00:06or Filipino fishermen 70 nautical miles off Silangin Island, Zambales.
00:12While monitoring the illegal presence of a Chinese Coast Guard vessel, the PECG received
00:18a distress call from the fishermen.
00:21Tragically, one fisherman passed away before the rescue team could reach them.
00:26But the body was recovered and brought back to Zambales despite the rough seas.
00:31The PECG condemned the action of the Chinese Coast Guard which followed their ship during
00:37the rescue.
00:38The BRP Teresa Magbanoa has since replaced the BRP Cabra to continue monitoring this
00:44situation as Chinese vessels remain in the Philippine EEZ.
00:51We have been very successful when we deployed BRP Cabra despite of its small size, BRP Cabra
00:58really did well to push back, to push the Chinese Coast Guard vessel away.
01:05Repeating our strategy with the deployment of a much bigger vessel, BRP Teresa Magbanoa,
01:12I think we can be able to attain that objective.
