Spurs fans turning on Daniel Levy as things go from bad to worse

Tottenham Hotspur fans are growing increasingly frustrated with chairman Daniel Levy, as tensions reach new heights.

00:00Daniel Levy, the situation, I mean, some of the shirts behind you there sort of signify

00:07how close Spurs were to fantastic success. Obviously, you know, so much has happened

00:12over the last sort of 10, 15 years at the club. It looked like they were going in such

00:17a great direction. You know, you stem as far back as sort of Gareth Bale, not replacing

00:23him properly with that transfer fee, that incredible window they had with five or six

00:28players who went on to barely achieve much for the club. Then you obviously have the

00:33Dele Alli period and Kane's son and Pochettino took them to that Champions League final.

00:40And then, you know, the stadium moved and the new situation with that, then Harry Kane

00:44ends up leaving. I mean, it's just sort of, did you feel Daniel Levy sort of got too comfortable

00:49at the top and didn't really, you know, reinvest and put some time into, you know, really making

00:55the future bright for Spurs? It's, you know, how long has this stemmed back, this problem

01:00with Levy and the fans now finally turning on him?

01:04Well, it's years and years of mismanagement. I mean, you know, to be fair to Daniel Levy,

01:09you've got a lot to thank him for, you know, new training ground, fantastic new stadium,

01:13but it's actually maybe been one of the worst things to happen to Tottenham because we've

01:16got this shiny new stadium, we've got the revenue pouring in and we've become a commercial

01:21cash cow and we've taken our eyes off the ball on the pitch. I think Pochettino once

01:25famously said, you know, we've got a shiny new house, but there's no furniture to go

01:29in it. And we've just taken our eye off the ball on the pitch, you know, and we've been

01:33bailed out time after time, as you say, by the likes of Kane, Son, and we're really paying

01:38the price for it now. You know, I actually thought the recruitment strategy was sort

01:42of working in the last sort of two years. We've signed some really, really good players.

01:46We've proved that you don't have to go out and spend hundreds of millions of pounds on

01:49players, you know, the likes of Vicario, van der Ven, Solanke, you know, decent money,

01:54but not, you know, a huge top bracket. But we just don't do enough.

01:59You know, we act, as I say, for a rich club, like we're completely desperate and we're

02:03rubbing two pennies together, you know, and that's just an absolute disgrace.

02:07Daniel Levy should have been lining up three new players for us come January the first

02:11to sort this injury crisis out, you know, whatever it takes. If you have to spend three

02:15or four million pounds extra on a player now, you do it to help the team, help the

02:19players, help the fans, you know, the fans that are paying hundreds and hundreds of

02:22pounds, you know, to watch that absolute rubbish that we're being served up with, you know,

02:28because of the players that are on the knees and having to go to the well.

02:31I mean, you saw after the Europa League game, you know, three or four players absolutely

02:35on the knees and the same players are turning out two days later in the Premier League.

02:39And, you know, it was always going to be a case against Leicester that if you don't,

02:43if we weren't out of sight by half time, the second half was always going to be a struggle.

02:46And that's just absolutely how it proved.

02:48But, you know, the tides turning, I think, against Daniel Levy now, which is, you know,

02:53even the mainstream media starting to pick up stories against him.

02:56There's a lot of movement, you know, to get him out.

02:59It isn't going to happen.

03:00But, you know, what we need to do now is almost Daniel Levy turn to protect his investment.

03:05You know, he runs the club like a business.

03:08The business is failing and that is the football team.

03:11So, you know, now he really does need to act and get his hand in his pocket and sort this

03:15mess out as quickly as possible.

03:18And just finally, on the transfer situation, obviously, you know,

03:23you really stressed that names do need to come through the door.

03:26What's the sort of type of player that they're going to be after if they are to make some January additions?

03:32Well, I think now it's all about leadership.

03:34You know, we need some experience.

03:35We need some leadership to help some of these younger players through.

03:38You know, I mean, you know, the young players have been the positives and the shining lights this season.

03:42You know, they've been absolutely, absolutely terrific.

03:44But we need some help now in terms of, you know, leadership and experience.

03:49Lots of talk about Evan Ferguson at Brighton.

03:51And, you know, he's been likened in the past to Harry Kane, the way he moves and finishes.

03:55And I know he's got an injury problem and he's been struggling for his fitness.

04:00But I tell you what, I'd take a fit Evan Ferguson in the team.

04:03You know, it could be a real steal for us if we were to get that one over the line.

04:07So that could be an option, short term loan.

04:09But, you know, again, we're going to be looking at stopgaps now.

04:11The strategy's been absolutely abysmal through January.

04:15You know, three quarters of the way through January, there's less than a week left in the window.

04:18And we're still scratching around looking at, you know, players.

04:21And it'll be stopgap loans now.

04:22And, you know, what good's that really?

04:24But we're in a desperate situation.

04:26So desperate times calls for desperate measures.
