00:00The administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. expects a cheaper electricity bill

00:05and a stronger electricity supply due to the flagship investment of the Maharlika Investment Fund

00:10in the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines.

00:12Details in the national news of Clay Zalpardilla of PTV Manila.

00:41the Maharlika Investment Corporation started using the Maharlika Investment Fund

00:55of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines or NGCP.

01:00The NGCP is a private corporation that runs the power grid of the country

01:05and delivers electricity to the plants

01:08towards power distributors like Meralko.

01:11The NGCP will give a seat to the Maharlika Investment Corporation.

01:16This means, said President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.,

01:21the people will have a voice

01:24and the government will influence the decisions of the NGCP

01:28to ensure a proper supply

01:30and a stable supply of electricity.

01:33According to the Energy Department and MIC,

01:35the government will decide

01:38when to implement the NGCP project.

01:42For example, the effect of that is the Mindanao-Visayas Interconnection Project of 2024.

01:48That resulted in a reduction of P1 to P2

01:51in electricity in the spot markets in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

01:56Now that the NGCP is a part of the government,

01:59the government is positive that transparency will be enhanced.

02:03It will be easy to see if there are or whether it is true

02:06that the power grid could be shut down.

02:10It is expected that the government will not earn P1.24 billion per year

02:16in its construction.

02:17Once we identified energy as our top priority,

02:21we've then decided to ask ourselves

02:23which part of that energy ecosystem

02:25in fact requires the most number of investment,

02:28the biggest amount of investment,

02:30and the highest impact.

02:32And that would be in the distribution lines.
