00:00We have a new artwork that you should share today.
00:03And this is wire art.
00:06It's a type of visual art that uses pieces of wire
00:10to create different shapes and designs.
00:14And when it comes to this type of artwork,
00:16John Infante is an expert in wire art.
00:19We have him live here in the studio.
00:21Good morning.
00:22Good morning.
00:23Welcome here in Rise and Shine Philippines.
00:26How did you start with wire art?
00:29How did you come up with the idea of making sculptures out of wire?
00:34When I was young, I used to make art using other materials
00:38like clay, paper, and other stuff.
00:42But I noticed that it always broke.
00:45So I wanted to do an experiment so that it wouldn't break.
00:50And I discovered that wire and aluminum are very durable.
00:54So that's what I used.
00:56When I was young, I used to sell wire to a junk shop.
01:01It has a price, right?
01:03Yes.
01:04Let's show John's artwork again.
01:08It's amazing.
01:09Yes, it's amazing.
01:10What materials did you use?
01:12And what tools did you use to make it?
01:17That is made out of aluminum.
01:20And I used a cutter for cutting.
01:25Most of the time, I used my hands.
01:28That's amazing.
01:29It's hard because you have to cut it properly.
01:32How long did it take you to make one?
01:35I mean, the regular size, for instance.
01:37The regular size, like this one, took me around 1-2 weeks.
01:43If I'm not sleeping, it's like that.
01:46Why?
01:47So that's the coping mechanism?
01:49Yes.
01:50What kind of design session do you do?
01:53Right now, I'm finishing my Filipino theme sculptures.
01:58Filipino theme?
01:59Yes.
02:00It's like what's on our monitor right now.
02:02That's amazing.
02:03But this is small.
02:04Can this fit your lifestyle?
02:06Yes.
02:07It can fit any size.
02:09Let's try to make it as big as the one in Pasi.
02:12Can it be that big?
02:14Do you have a favorite artwork that you've made?
02:18And why is that your favorite?
02:22My favorite is the one by Michelle D.
02:28You made it?
02:30Yes.
02:31What is it?
02:32It is the evening gown of Michelle D.
02:34Designed by Mark Baumgarner.
02:37I was inspired by her clothes.
02:40When I saw it for the first time, I was like, wow, it's beautiful.
02:44And then, it matches the Filipino theme that I'm making.
02:48So, why not?
02:49Let's try to make that.
02:51Okay.
02:52How much does it cost to make this kind of artwork?
02:55And where do you usually get your artwork?
03:01My artwork is all over the Philippines.
03:05Wow.
03:06Yeah.
03:07Usually, there's a price.
03:08How much is it?
03:09The price depends on the size and the type.
03:11Maybe, this size is around 20,000 and above.
03:17Okay.
03:18Are there people who ask you for commission?
03:20Yes.
03:21For example, I want to make a design for you.
03:23I can do that.
03:24Then, I'll contact you.
03:25You can do that.
03:26For how many weeks, for example?
03:27It depends on the size.
03:28Maybe, two weeks.
03:29I can do that.
03:30That's great.
03:31It's art lambre.
03:32Looking forward or moving forward, aside from lambre, what else do you want to explore?
03:40As a hobby or...
03:43I want to try resin and wood one day.
03:47Okay.
03:48I also want to open a furniture shop.
03:51It's like a combination of art and furniture.
03:54That's great.
03:55I want to enter the architecture side.
03:57Yes.
03:58Since you were a kid, you wanted to be good at artwork.
04:02Now, you want to open a furniture shop.
04:05But you're an architect.
04:06I'm an archigraduate.
04:08Archigraduate.
04:09Okay.
04:10Where can our viewers find your artworks and sculptures?
04:17Where can they go?
04:18You can go to my social media accounts like joffie.ph, IGN, and Facebook page.
04:29You said earlier that the others are in the gallery.
04:32Yes.
04:33Where are the galleries?
04:34I have one in Tagaytay, Montinlupa, and coming soon in Cubao.
04:40Nice.
04:41Nice.
04:42This is very inspiring.
04:45From simple art that you wanted to do when you were a kid,
04:48and it became different on a macro level.
04:51What advice can you give to beginners in wire art?
04:56Of course, a lot of people want to try this.
05:00First of all, they should be prepared for wire art because it's very hard.
05:06Sometimes, they think it's easy.
05:09It's not just hard, but it's also painful.
05:11So, if you want to try it, use gloves first so you won't get injured.
05:19Hopefully, his artworks will be recognized internationally.
05:23Internationally.
05:24Yes.
05:25Because it's beautiful.
05:26If we can see his artworks, especially his designs, it has a Filipino culture.
05:32Yes.
05:33There.
05:34You can see it.
05:35It's amazing.
05:36Imagine how he maintains it.
05:38What's that?
05:39Once a person moves it, the curtain will break.
05:44How does he build it?
05:45Is it very fixed?
05:47It's in the middle.
05:50It's flexible.
05:52It's also sturdy.
05:53What's good about it is that if it breaks or falls,
05:56there's a little damage.
05:59You can fix it again before going back to the original.
06:02You can also use it in painting and make it 3D.
06:05Yes.
06:06You've done that before.
06:07Once.
06:08Once.
06:09Are there many artists like you who do this in the Philippines?
06:15Yes.
06:16There are so many talented artists here in the Philippines who make war sculptures.
06:22Okay, RSP.
06:23Let's support these kinds of artworks.
06:26Thank you for sharing your art.
06:28Our story is with John Infante.
06:30Thank you, John.
