00:00Hi everybody, welcome to Elmo's World News, the show where Elmo and his reporter friends
00:19talk about things happening where they live. Today, kids around the world are talking about
00:26all the fun things we can do with computers, phones, and tablets. Elmo uses a tablet to
00:33learn about lots of things like bugs and clouds and dinosaurs. Elmo also loves listening to
00:41music on his tablet. You can even make art with computers. Let's go now to reporters Bosma
00:48and John with more on this story. Thanks reporter Elmo. We are here with Vincent and Frida who
00:55make art using a computer. Vincent, Frida, tell us about how you make your art.
01:01Oh, we take pictures of beautiful things, then we change the colours so the pictures are different
01:06from what they look like in real life. Yeah, we even print the pictures and put them up
01:10on the wall for everyone to see. It's so much fun. I like it. And are you going to print
01:17this starry sky picture too? We've been trying to, but something is wrong
01:21with the computer. The picture isn't printing. What are you going to do? We're going to turn
01:26off the computer and take a little break outside. Great idea. It's always good to take breaks
01:32from the computer screen. Chad and I have some of our best ideas when we take breaks.
01:37While Vincent and Frida take a screen break, let's see how kids around the world use devices
01:43like computers, tablets and phones. Some kids use a computer to video chat with their friends
01:51who live in other parts of the world. Tablets are a great tool for learning more about something.
01:57These kids are using a tablet to help them do their homework. You can also use phones and other
02:04devices just for fun, like having a dance party with your family. But always remember to take a screen break.
02:13Going outside can be more fun than the things we do on devices.
02:18Wow, there are so many things that you can do with these devices.
02:23But screen breaks are also really important. Speaking of which, we're going to see what's going on outside
02:28with Vincent and Frida. Back to you in the studio, Elmo!
02:32Thank you, reporters Bosma and Jed. Elmo's mommy knows lots of fun ways to take screen breaks, too.
02:39So, let's go to grown-up reporter Elmo's mommy.
02:43Mommy? Mommy? Excuse Elmo?
02:49Oh! Oh, darling. Are you doing your newscast right now?
02:55Yeah. Elmo was just talking about screen time breaks.
02:59Oh! Well, you know, I was just taking a little break myself. Did you know that some of the best ideas come when you take a screen break?
03:07Yeah! Oh, Elmo remembers when Elmo and Abby were playing a car racing video game?
03:12Yeah, Elmo didn't want to stop playing.
03:14Mm-hmm. And what happened when I asked you to take a break from the screen?
03:18Oh! Oh! We made up a real-life car racing game!
03:21That's right!
03:25It was so much fun that we forgot about the video game!
03:27That's right! You know, when you take breaks, you have more time for stories and drawing and games!
03:34Yeah! Oh! But you know what the best part is about screen time breaks?
03:39What's that, Elmo?
03:41Spending time with Elmo's mommy!
03:43Oh, you come here, darling!
03:45Oh! Oh! Excuse Elmo!
03:46What?
03:47Oh! We have breaking news!
03:49Oh! Oh! There's an update from Bosma and Jad! Let's find out more!
03:53Uh-huh!
03:54Yes, reporter Elmo, we've got big news!
03:57Vincent and Frida have finished their art project!
04:00Vincent, Frida, tell us what happened!
04:03Well, we couldn't figure out why the computer wasn't printing our picture!
04:07We turned it off and we went outside to take a break!
04:10Then, after playing tech for a while, I suddenly thought,
04:13What if the computer also needed a break? Just like we did!
04:17And after our break, we tried to print the picture again and it worked!
04:21Yay!
04:22And we put it up on the bar!
04:23Incredible!
04:24There you have it! Vincent and Frida used their computer as a fun tool to make amazing art!
04:30What a story!
04:32That's today's special report!
04:34Back to you, Elmo!
04:36Well! Now Elmo wants to try and make art!
04:39Oh! On Elmo's tablet!
04:41Elmo! Time to go outside!
04:43Okay!
04:44Oh! But first, Elmo has to take a break!
04:47Join us next time on Elmo's World News!
04:50Bye-bye! Elmo loves you!
