00:00The National Irrigation Administration, or NIA, expects security in food and a stable supply of electricity this year.
00:08According to NIA Administrator Engineer Eduardo Villen,
00:12in 2024, they recorded 70,000 hectares of irrigated lands that they will turn over
00:19with the help of digitalization and new equipment.
00:22The agency also expanded their projects in the program Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon,
00:28such as the Malmar Project and multi-purpose dams that were completed almost a decade before the implementation.
00:35NIA expects that aside from the supply of rice, the supply of electricity will also increase.
00:42This is because they will create a new system of planting using the water that comes from the dams.
00:49The high-dams will also be built to save more water during the rainy season.
00:56Our farmers expect more help, sustainable help for them,
01:02because that's what our President wants, the empowerment of our farmers.
01:06That's the ultimate thing we want to achieve, for them to be empowered to stand on their own two feet.
