00:00Today, in Tondo, Manila, was celebrated the feast of Santo Nino in the Archdiocesan Shrine of Santo Nino.

00:16Today, in Tondo, Manila, was celebrated the feast of Santo Nino in the Archdiocesan Shrine of Santo Nino.

00:22Before the glorious procession at 4 o'clock this morning,

00:26Fr. Juvelan Paul Samya led the holy mass.

00:30In the homily, the importance of the children in the eyes of the Lord is valued.

00:34Here, the parents are reminded of their duty to love and guide the children,

00:40just as God loves and guides them.

00:42If the child is important, the family is also important.

00:48The priest also gave the family an important instrument to bring the children closer to the Lord.

00:54The Filipino family should be an instrument to bring the children closer to the Lord God.

01:08Let us promise that whoever is a child or a member of our family,

01:16we will be an instrument to bring them closer to the Lord Jesus Christ.

01:28After the mass, the procession of the image of Santo Nino began on some streets around the church.

01:34And just before 7 o'clock this morning, the image returned to the church.

01:39According to the Manila Police District,

01:40up to 5,000 people attended the procession of the image of Santo Nino de Tondo

01:45and no untoward incidents were recorded.

01:48In 1572, the image of Miguel Lopez de Legazpi was brought to the Philippines.

01:55Santo Nino de Tondo is the second oldest image of the child Jesus in the country,

02:00followed by Santo Nino de Cebu.

02:01In July 1972, the church of Tondo was demolished and the image of Santo Nino was stolen.

02:06After that, the country was hit by a typhoon.

02:10Many believe that the theft of the image resulted in the arrest of the authorities.

02:16Four adults stole the image.

02:18Here, it was found that the part of the image was broken.

02:22President Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr. ordered the immediate reconstruction of the image of the child Jesus.

02:29A month after the theft of the image, it was returned to its owner.
