00:04I have no idea what happened, but we always end up finding him.

00:09It's Denny Bernstein in the fourth period at NHL Radio on Sirius XM.

00:13You hear us talking about Alex Ovechkin.

00:16We're talking about trying to get 21 and 37, which I think it'll be like it's a game to

00:22him.

00:23You want to play with me?

00:24You don't think I can score 21 goals?

00:25Watch this.

00:26And I said that he's played with Crosby, the two most significant players, bar none,

00:33in the NHL, bar none over the last 20 years with all their cups and all their glory and

00:39the gold medals and watching these two guys tied at the hip.

00:43It's those two players that have run the National Hockey League for the last 20 years and seeing

00:47him do this as a Penguin fan, I'm actually like turned on by it because I respect him

00:53that much.

00:54Yeah.

00:55These are the two generational talents of that generation, like Conor McDavid, Leon

01:00Drysdale, whoever's coming next.

01:01That's next.

01:02In the moment, these are two generational players because they've won.

01:06Conor might win this year.

01:07The team looks really, really good.

01:08But you're right.

01:09Sid wants his cup.

01:10And I think the fact that both teams have won.

01:13So if you're a Caps fan, you're probably not hating on the Penguins because they've won

01:16three and you got yours.

01:17Same thing with the Penguins.

01:18I think everybody's rooting for Ovechkin at this point in time.

01:22And I think he'll do it as well.

01:23So it's a feat that no one ever thought Scotty would be broken.

01:27It's going to be broken.

01:28And it's probably going to be broken because, Scotty, you know, he's not going to stop shooting.

01:32He's not going to be looking to distribute the puck.

01:34He's not going to be a facilitator.

01:36Every time he gets a puck on the stick, he's looking to shoot and score.

01:39And so because of that, because the team is playing so good and they're an excellent team.

01:43This is not an excellent start.

01:44It's an excellent team.

01:45But because of that, he gets the freedom to shoot the puck whenever he wants, because

01:48the team, whatever he does, is going to keep winning.

01:51We talked about yesterday, their odds are dramatic to me that they're not favored to

01:58win anything.

01:59It's still Florida.

02:01And I like the Capitals odds for at least a couple of shekels because, I mean, they're

02:07laying in the weeds and they're this dangerous and everybody thinks it's going to be somebody

02:11else.

02:12What do you think of their chances, the way they play?

02:16And Carver Heights said it best.

02:17They're not just up in their division.

02:19They're up in Eastern Conference running away.

02:21Yeah, they're the President's Trophy winner right now.

02:24So if you get them at a price, is it not worth a bet?

02:27Of course it is at this point.

02:28The way they're playing, you don't have to bet on this team to win the next four to five

02:31championships.

02:32You're bidding on this team to win the Stanley Cup this year.

02:34Do they have a legitimate chance?

02:36Absolutely.

02:37Because, yeah, Florida might rise up and when the playoffs start in game 83, they might

02:41start playing the way they played last season.

02:43But Scotty, they played a lot of hockey, like they were in the cup final two years ago.

02:46They won it all last year.

02:47How much can you play before you get exhausted and can't do it?

02:50So Washington's a legitimate team, without question, because you only have to do is play

02:55well in the next 40 games and then find a way to win 16 games in the postseason.

02:59It can be done.

03:01It has been done.

03:02Are they the prohibitive favorites?

03:03No, of course not, because you have bigger names, bigger brand names other than Ovechkin

03:07on a team.

03:08You couldn't name three other caps, probably.

03:10So that's probably why the price is higher than it should be.

03:14This is a legitimate dangerous team, Scotty, from the team I've seen so far.

03:18So I said yesterday on the show that I believe that the Edmonton Oilers can win the Stanley Cup.

03:24I know they lost the Stanley Cup.

03:26I know they were down three zip.

03:27They came back.

03:28They lost in seven.

03:29It is what it is.

03:30And that they were down three nothing in that game in Colorado, came back and they won that

03:34game for three.

03:35I think for my money, they're still the most dangerous team in the West.

03:40I respect L.A.

03:42I respect Vegas.

03:43I respect a lot of teams, Dallas and Colorado and, you know, even Minnesota.

03:49But Minnesota's not winning the Stanley Cup.

03:52The Edmonton Oilers, to me, stand out as the most talented team.

03:55And they say, oh, well, they played all this hockey.

03:57Like you just said, Florida played all this hockey.

03:59I don't care how much hockey they play.

04:00These guys are badasses.

04:01They'll play that much hockey again and go to the final.

04:05They played a lot of hockey.

04:07They lost game seven.

04:08They're still motivated.

04:09Conor's still motivated.

04:11And you know, I saw the other night against L.A.

04:12It was nothing, nothing in the third period.

04:14They put out Conor and Leon on four and four.

04:17Goal, game over.

04:18Conor scored the goal.

04:19So, yeah, it's still a very dangerous team.

04:21They just saw John Klingberg, who's probably going to pair with Darnell Nurse on the second

04:26pair.

04:27So, yeah, this is a very dangerous team that could certainly emerge because I can't tell

04:30you this team that, oh, without question could beat the Oilers in the seven-game series.

04:34Like most games would either be a toss-up or they'd be favored.

04:37So yeah, they can still absolutely win.

04:39They're still that good because of 97 and 29.

04:42The question I have about the Oilers is their play on the wing.

04:45Are the wingers going to be good enough?

04:46They don't have, you know, they don't have Evander Kane.

04:48He's going to be out for a little while.

04:50They don't have a true sniper on the wing.

04:53Zach Kahneman's going to score 35 goals, but he's not a dangerous scorer coming off the

04:57wing.

04:58The only flaw I see on that team is maybe they don't get enough production from the

05:01wing.

05:02And you mentioned Colorado last time.

05:03You know why Colorado lost?

05:05Because they had Conor and Leon at one, two in the center.

05:08Ohio has McKinnon, and they have Casey Middlestad who's now a three-seater the way he's playing.

05:12They can't match up in the middle.

05:13And that's why, admittedly, the Oilers got to the Stanley Cup, because these teams can't

05:16match up with Conor and Leon in the middle.

05:19And they're getting pretty good goaltending from Skinner.

05:21And they do decide to play defense sometimes as well.

05:24Do you think Winnipeg, because I still think Dallas and Colorado and even L.A. to me can

05:31be as dangerous or more so than Winnipeg.

05:33Winnipeg to me is on top.

05:34Everybody thinks they're going to go because they're on top.

05:36They always fold up shop.

05:39That's the problem.

05:40They have a great goaltender who played great last year in a regular season.

05:43It got to the playoffs, and he couldn't stop a beach ball.

05:45And he couldn't defend.

05:46And that's the issue.

05:47Scotty, it depends on a matchup.

05:49Like that was a terrible matchup against Colorado.

05:52If they get Minnesota in the first round, let's say it's a 2-3, and Colorado wins the

05:57division.

05:58Could they win?

05:59Yeah, at that point, they could win.

06:00But it depends upon matchups.

06:01I don't know about this team, because they are so great in a regular season, Scotty.

06:05But they have won one playoff game in the last couple of seasons.

06:09That's not good enough.

06:10So I'm going to defer on them.

06:12They have all the tools, but I'm not sure they can do it in the postseason.
