00:00Former Filipinas team captain and midfielder Tana Anes
00:05returned to her 6th year playing for the Philippine Women's National Football Team.
00:10This is what my teammate, Daryl Oclares, reported.
00:16After a colorful career for the Philippine Women's National Football Team,
00:21the team captain and midfielder of the Philippines, Tana Anes, retired.
00:26This is what the 35-year-old booter announced in December
00:30when she was interviewed on the Football Brew podcast.
00:34Anes has been with the Philippine Women's National Football Team for 6 years
00:38and she is one of the founding members for the Philippines
00:41who will continue to make history in the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.
00:46But if you ask Anes to choose what is the highlight of her career
00:50as a member of the Philippines, this is what she chose.
00:54But my favorite memory would probably have to be when we won the gold medal in AFF in Manila,
01:02in the Philippines, on home soil, in front of a home crowd.
01:08Nothing really beats that moment for me.
01:11Anes also promised that she will not be absent from the Philippine Women's Football Team.
01:16I definitely will be involved.
01:20I definitely hope so with our youth teams.
01:23After being with the under-17s in Bali, that was a really great experience for me.
01:30And so I hope to continue being involved with our youth teams.
01:35And I don't know what it will look like, what the future will look like
01:39in my involvement with our senior team.
01:43I will continue to do as much as I can to support.
01:47Anes also gave a message to aspiring Filipino footballers
01:52who are determined to become a part of the country.
01:55Just to remember how much of an honor it is,
01:59and the fact that representing our country and wearing our flag
02:05is not something to be taken lightly,
02:08and that it is a privilege, and it is a right,
02:13and it's something that very few people have the opportunity to do.
02:16So if you are able to do it, and you have the drive and discipline
02:22to represent our country at the highest level,
02:25take that opportunity and embrace it, enjoy it.
02:29But just know it does come with responsibility,
02:33and it's something that you'll carry with you for the rest of your life.
02:41In just six years of his career,
02:44Anes has scored 43 caps for the Philippines,
02:47where he has scored 16 goals.
02:51Daryl Oclares for the Filipino athlete for the new Philippines.
