'We do not want to be Americans' says Greenland's PM as Trump hints at land grab

The United States is a strong ally of the European Union and the leading member of NATO and many in Europe were shocked by the suggestion that an incoming US leader could consider using force against an ally.

00:11Mutebi Egel acknowledged that Greenland is part of the North American continent but said

00:16Greenland is for the Greenlandic people.

00:19The semi-autonomous island is a territory of Denmark and Egel has been calling for independence.

00:25Trump said earlier this week that he wouldn't rule out using force or economic pressure

00:29in order to make Greenland a part of the United States.

00:33He said it was a matter of national security.

00:36Those comments sparked anxiety in Denmark and across Europe.
