00:20Ringo Starr is back.

00:22And he's got a brand new country album.

00:25The Beatles star talked with our very own Melinda Newman all about it.

00:29Like where his country roots began.

00:31I did love country from before I was in the band.

00:34Yeah.

00:35Yeah.

00:36Yeah.

00:37You really loved it.

00:38And we got plenty of it in Liverpool,

00:40because the lads who were in the Merchant Navy

00:42would bring not only rock and roll over, but country.

00:46And when the country bands went on tour in England,

00:50they always played Liverpool.

00:52We always used to say,

00:53Liverpool is the capital of country music, you know, in England.

00:57And with his new single, he captured the country spirit.

01:00The wife's left, the dog's dead,

01:03and I don't have any money for the jukebox.

01:05And the truck won't start.

01:07And, you know...

01:09Well, if you listen to a lot of my songs,

01:11not only the country, the pop songs,

01:14the last verse is always an up.

01:19You know?

01:20Just for me, that's what I want to present.

01:22So, you know, there's a break in the clouds,

01:26and the light comes through.

01:34And he trusted producer T-Bone Burnett to get it done.

01:38I'll do the drums and the vocals.

01:42From the first track he sent me,

01:44I just put it in his hands to produce it.

01:47He's the producer.

01:49And he did us proud.

01:51Yeah, what did you think?

01:53When I first heard it, I was just blown away.
