00:28has unveiled its new logo signifying a transition for a better healthcare for Basileños.
00:35In her message, Dr. Siti Norosamsi Amilasan, Medical Center Chief of Basilan Medical Center,
00:41emphasized a transformation of the health facility by virtue of Republic Act No. 12056,
00:49upgrading Basilan General Hospital from 100-bed capacity
00:53to 500-bed capacity and will be called Basilan Medical Center.
00:57It is a reflection of our shared commitment to provide accessible,
01:03inclusive, and quality healthcare services to all Basileños.
01:10So, I'd like to begin by recognizing and expressing our deepest gratitude to Honorable
01:17Congressman Eugene Hataman, Sir. Sir, your unwavering dedication and effort as the forerunner
01:27of this historic deal in the Senate have brought us to this day.
01:33Our ambition for a healthier Basilan serves as an inspiration to all of us.
01:41As provided under the law, the Basilan Medical Center, as 500-bed capacity Level 3 General
01:49Hospital, shall follow the Department of Health 8-point agenda and shall align our vision and
01:58vision for the safety, quality, and quality of services, technology for easy services,
02:09ready for crisis, protection in any pandemic, and we shall promote and protect our workforce
02:19for the well-being and strength of our health workers.
02:24Meanwhile, Basilan Law District Representative Mujib Hataman, who championed the bill in upgrading the health facility,
02:31narrated their experiences during the pandemic where he said serve as his inspiration to push for the upgrading of Basilan General Hospital in order to upgrade also its services.
02:43On the part of the Department of Health, Under-Secretary Achilles Gerald Bravo, shared the need for more staff to ensure that Basilan Medical Center
02:51becomes the top hospital in Basilan and he committed to fast-track the opening of additional plantilia positions.
02:59On October 2024, President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. signed Republic Act No. 12056,
03:19or an Act Upgrading Basilan General Hospital in the City of Isabela de Basilan into Label 3 Hospital to be known as Basilan Medical Center.
