00:00The Department of Transportation promised that it will study the high rate of passengers in LRT Line 1.

00:07According to DOTR Secretary Jaime Bautista, the first public consultation was held yesterday until now.

00:13If it can be approved, it will be implemented as soon as possible in April.

00:18According to Calihim, based on the concession agreement of 2016,

00:22LRT 1 is allowed to increase the number of passengers every two years.

00:26But it was only allowed to increase in 2024.

00:29According to the Transportation Assistant Secretary for Railways, Georgette Aquino,

00:33one of the reasons for the decision in the petition of Light Rail Manila Corporation

00:38is the inflation and if our countrymen can afford it.

00:43In the previous petition of LRMC,

00:45it was requested to increase the boarding fare from 13 pesos and 29 centavos to 18 pesos and 15 centavos.

00:53Aside from this, the additional 1 peso and 65 centavos was requested for the distance fare.

01:01The first hearing of the Rail Regulatory Unit was held to hear the petition.

01:09Because there needs to be a consultation before we allow the increase.

01:17At the moment, the consultation is continuous.

01:21Maybe the government should respect this.

01:25We should allow them to increase because their cost of operations is increasing.
