Bristol City aiming for Premier League scalp against Wolves

00:00Dan, looking at Bristol City and their next fixture, obviously, FA Cup tie against Wolves.

00:07Now, obviously, the last time these two sides met was all the way back in February 2019

00:11due to Wolves' rise to the Premier League and Bristol City obviously staying in the

00:16championship. The last time they met was actually in the exact same fixture, a Cup tie at Ashton

00:22Gate where Wolves came away as 1-0 winners on the day and they obviously went on in that

00:27season to reach the FA Cup semi-finals as well. So, I mean, if you looked at it just

00:33before December when the draw was done, Bristol City would have been absolutely looking forward

00:39to this with a struggling Wolves side at the time with Gary O'Neill, but now Vito Pereira

00:43has come in and made seemingly some fantastic changes at Wolves and he's really rallying

00:48them to hopefully Premier League survival in terms of Wolves fans' concerns.

00:53Bristol City going to this one, how are they looking at it? It's obviously a Premier League

00:57opposition, a chance for an upset, but is there bigger fish to fry in terms of their

01:02championship position?

01:03Well, yes, I think you are right in terms of bigger fish to fry. Bristol City, they

01:07are doing well in the championship. They've been inconsistent this season, but overall

01:12recent performances and results have got them within touching distance of the play-offs,

01:15so that probably is their priority. They've not been in the play-offs for so many years

01:19in the championship and so I think that is what they'll be looking more towards, to be

01:25honest. But it is the chance for a Premier League scalp for a club in the championship

01:30and that's always something that any club in a lower league will look forward to. As

01:34you say there, they have played each other before, so perhaps Bristol City will want

01:37to exact a little bit of revenge on a team who knocked them out only a handful of years

01:41ago on their home turf as well. I think you are right in saying though that if this game

01:48had come even just a month ago, Bristol City would have been perhaps even more licking

01:52their lips at the thought of playing a really struggling Wolves side. But Wolves have had

01:57that new manager bounce into Vito Pereira and so it's fair to say that it's not going

02:03to be an easy one for Bristol City. They do have talent in that squad, they do have players

02:07who can win a match on their own, but so do Wolves. And Wolves' upturn of four has been,

02:13let's be honest, down to those players that they've got, that quality that they've got

02:18coming up and making themselves be counted. You look at Matthias Cunha, he's a remarkable

02:25talent and players like that really are taking a bit of a hold now for Wolves. And you just

02:31think if they're on song for Wolves at the weekend, you do struggle to see the response

02:37Bristol City would have in such a game. But all in all, I think Wolves are perhaps the

02:42favourites going into this one on this occasion, just because of the form that they've shown

02:46in recent weeks. That's not to discredit Bristol City's recent performances and wins

02:50because there have been some really good ones and some really good goals they've scored

02:53as well, but Wolves have that Premier League quality that, unfortunately, Bristol City

02:58just don't have.
