00:03That's what's going viral right now.

00:05But have you heard the story of a 9-year-old boy

00:08who went viral because he built a rescue center

00:11for stray cats and dogs?

00:13Here's his inspiring story.

00:21Can you take care of more than 300 cats and dogs?

00:24For the animal lover, Ken Amapia.

00:27You can do it!

00:30When he was a kid, he was already fond of animals.

00:33When he was just 9 years old,

00:35he made his restaurant go viral

00:37with 3 stray dogs in Davao City.

00:40Their names are Whitey,

00:43Blacky,

00:46and Browny.

00:49Because Ken made a lot of people happy,

00:51he received a lot of donations from netizens.

00:54This is where Ken and his family decided

00:57to build Happy Animals Club in 2014.

01:02Thanks to help from people all over the world,

01:06I was able to set up a no-kill animal shelter.

01:11It's called the Happy Animals Club.

01:16But in 2023,

01:18Happy Animals Club went under.

01:21It was shut down by the Davao City Health Office

01:24after a neighbor complained.

01:27The whole story is...

01:28Happy Animals Club in Davao City

01:31has been rescuing stray animals for 3 decades.

01:33So Ken didn't expect that

01:35their neighbor's complaint

01:37would stop the closure of the shelter.

01:40The neighbors of Happy Animals Club

01:42in Davao City Health Office

01:44complained about the smell and noise of the dogs.

01:48This became the basis of the closure order in the facility.

01:52The animals here will be admitted.

01:55Ken and his family opposed the complaint.

01:57They also uploaded a video

01:59to prove that the shelter is quiet

02:01and the rescued animals are not noisy.

02:05After a re-investigation,

02:07the Davao City Health Office

02:10removed the animal shelter.

02:12I want to thank everyone who played a role

02:15in saving the shelter.

02:16More than 300 animals are in the shelter now.
