00:33After participating in the Ballet International Cricket Tournament, which has been held in Kashmir for a few years,

00:46that we are very grateful to the Government of India and the J.K. Handloom & Handcrafts Department

00:51that they have accepted the work of the Kashmiri Cricket Bats

00:55This will not only pave the way for the development of the industry, but also for business

01:00If we look at the cricket bat industry in Kashmir,

01:04we have been making cricket bats here for the last 100 years

01:08But our bat, which is a professional international level cricket bat,

01:14is actually handmade and is made with hand tools

01:17So when the handloom department reached us,

01:25they pushed this industry forward for inclusion

01:29so that it can be registered in handicrafts and our industry can benefit

01:34If you look at this industry, we have more than 400 factories here in Kashmir

01:38that are making cricket bats,

01:40in which more than 1.5 lakh people are working

01:44We are very grateful to the Directorate of Handloom & Handicrafts Kashmir,

01:49Directorate of Industries & Commerce, and our J.K.D.P.

01:54They pushed this industry forward for inclusion

01:58so that our craftsmen and artisans can benefit

02:03from the centre-sponsored schemes and government state schemes

02:07So that these schemes can reach them, not only artisans and craftsmen,

02:11but also the artisans who are associated with it

02:14So we will get another platform where we can show our cricket bat

02:19and give the whole world as an alternative

02:22and from there our purchase can double

02:25and there are so many chances that the sale will also double

02:28Definitely, the industry will survive

02:30When artisans survive, the industry will survive and will be preserved

02:33And because of this, our craft of making cricket bats in Kashmir,

02:38God willing, it will survive and we will be able to take it as a career option

02:42and give the whole world as a cricket bat, as an alternative

02:45When we used to supply cricket bats from Kashmir only as raw material,

02:49then even the departments in the village did not pay much attention to us

02:53But since the last 4-5 years, since we have got the ICC approval,

02:57since our Kashmir bat has played the World Cup 5 so far,

03:01recently concluding, last week when you will see the cricket bat,

03:04then our Kashmir bat has helped the West Indies women's team to reach the semi-final

03:11So the departments also pay attention to it

03:13The government also feels that we have an indigenous industry that is growing up

03:18and we should help that indigenous industry so that it will boost our economy

03:22When the product of any indigenous industry goes for export,

03:28you are bringing money to your country and that gets distributed among your nationals

03:32So it is the duty of the government to preserve that indigenous industry

03:36because it boosts our economy

03:40Number two is that when the government comes to know that we have such a good strength,

03:44we have such an asset, then they also take steps to distribute it

03:49The cricket bat made of Kashmiri wood has not only shown its glory in the women's

03:54international T20 and Ekroza tournaments

04:12so that they get the most benefit from our schemes

04:18There are many schemes of our handicraft department

04:22They will get a lot of benefit

04:37and they can take advantage of other schemes

04:40For example, they can take advantage of our scholarship for children

04:45They can also take advantage of our loan scheme, artisan credit card scheme
