00:13Leeds City Council's proposal to close the venue.

00:16The Council launched a consultation on the closure last month in response to unprecedented

00:22Mr Long said he had been deeply affected by the potential closure and cannot stand by

00:26while Leeds City Council plans to close a piece of our city's rich history.

00:31He added that the museum is not just a building but a historical landmark and valuable resource

00:36to the people of Leeds.

00:38Job losses, service cuts and a council tax rise of almost 5% are also being considered

00:43by the authority, with £106.4 million worth of savings needed to avoid bankruptcy.

00:49The Abbey House Museum closure could save the Council £160,000.

00:54The consultation on the closure of Abbey House runs until the 23rd of January.
