Melbourne photographer and author Gavin John travelled the country to photograph historic pubs.

00:03around Australia, photographing some of our best and oldest pubs.

00:07This is the book, The Australia's Atomic Pubs, and it features 52 of the finest examples

00:12of these establishments.

00:14There's quite a few criteria for the best pub, some of them would include great food,

00:19great beer, obviously, a stunning location always helps, live music at the right time

00:25is also another great benefit to make it a more enjoyable experience.

00:29And yeah, just finding out something interesting about the area you're in when you stay there.

00:33You get to meet the locals, and you hear about the vicinity that you're in, and makes for

00:38a great experience if you're after a getaway for the weekend.
