00:02He would call me, like, once every couple of weeks

00:05to check in and say hi and make sure that I was OK.

00:07And there were some times in that period where I wasn't OK.

00:11We parted ways, and I wrote this long letter

00:17to say how sad I was about the situation.

00:20And there was a big Elton-shaped hole in my life.

00:22And over the next few years, as my life

00:24began to sort of spiral out of control,

00:27I held much resentment for the fact

00:30that I'd made myself very vulnerable in this letter

00:32and told him all about my sobriety.

00:34And I was quite cross with him for a few years.

00:37For not responding.

00:38And I thought it was mean of him, actually.

00:40And then when I moved here to America, I was unpacking.

00:44And I found the letter.

00:45I never sent it.
