00:00Hey, I'm Johnny Palmer and I own this Boeing 727 in Brislington, Bristol.
00:06So I first heard about a place called Kemble Airfield where they scraphold aircraft and
00:10I went there because I love aeroplanes and I saw this one and I met a guy called Mark
00:13who showed me around and eventually I managed to buy it off him and a year later I landed
00:18it down in Brislington in Bristol.
00:21So despite it being an aeroplane, you'd think it would be able to move quite easily, wasn't
00:24the case.
00:25When I first bought it, it got stuck in the mud and then we had to get onto a lorry and
00:28move it down the M5.
00:29It got stuck under a motorway bridge, then stuck on a roundabout, had to go through multiple
00:33different police constabularies to get it here.
00:36It was quite a hard journey but eventually it got here and we got two massive cranes
00:39and we lifted it up and we plonked it on top of the shipping containers.
00:59So now we use this for lots of things, events, photo shoots, parties, some people rent it
01:05and stay here, have their kids' parties or anniversaries.
01:09It's used most nights of the week for something.
01:11Sometimes commercially, sometimes we just let it be available to artists.
01:16My favourite part of the plane is the switches in the cockpit.
01:20Not any particular switch, it's the sound they make, they have this amazing range of
01:24different clicks and clacks and things, they've got a really nice tactile feel to them.
01:27I love switches.
01:30Well getting this plane here and this project has been one of the funnest things of my working
01:33life and it's really good, it works well as a business so I'm going to do another one.
01:37So I've got another plane lined up, the planning pre-application has gone in and soon you'll
01:42see a full planning application for the next aeroplane in Bristol and I think when you've
01:46got two planes that's called a fleet.
