00:00I know I can speak for all Americans when I say our hearts are with the people of New
00:05Orleans after a despicable attack that occurred in the early morning hours.
00:12To all the families of those who were killed, to all those who were injured, to all the
00:17people of New Orleans who are grieving today, I want you to know I grieve with you.
00:23Our nation grieves with you.
00:25We're going to stand with you as you mourn and as you heal in the weeks to come.
00:32Here's what we know so far.
00:34The FBI has reported to me the killer was an American citizen born in Texas.
00:40He served in the United States Army on active duty for many years.
00:44He also served in the Army Reserve until a few years ago.
00:48The FBI also reported to me that mere hours before the attack, he posted videos on social
00:54media indicating that he was inspired by ISIS, expressing a desire to kill, a desire
01:01to kill. The ISIS flag was found in his vehicle, which he rented to conduct this attack.
01:08Possible explosives were found in the vehicle as well, and more explosives were found
01:14nearby. The situation is very fluid and the investigation has a preliminary stage.
01:21And the fact is that right now, excuse me.
01:27There you go. The law enforcement intelligence community continue to look for any
01:33connections, associations or co-conspirators.
01:38We have nothing additional to report at this time.
01:40The investigation is continuing to be acted and no one should jump to conclusions.
01:46I've directed my attorney general, the FBI director, the secretary of Homeland Security,
01:52head of the National Counterterrorism Center and the intelligence community to work on this
01:58intensively until we have a full and complete information.
02:03And once we have that information, I will share that information as soon as we can confirm
02:09it. Additionally, we're tracking the explosion of a cyber truck outside the
02:15Trump Hotel in Las Vegas.
02:17Law enforcement and the intelligence community are investigating this as well, including
02:23whether there's any possible connection with the attack in New Orleans.
02:27Thus far, there's nothing to report on that score at this time.
02:31I directed my team to make sure every resource, every resource is made available to
02:36federal, state and local law enforcement to complete the investigation in New Orleans
02:41quickly and to make sure there is no remaining threat to the American people.
02:46And we will support the people of New Orleans as they begin the hard work of healing.
02:52New Orleans is a place unlike any other place in the world, a city full of charm and joy.
02:58So many people around the world love New Orleans because of its history, its culture and
03:03above all, its people.
03:05So I know all this person committed a terrible assault on the city.
03:10The spirit of our New Orleans will never, never, never be defeated.
03:14It always will shine for.
03:16We've seen that time and time again throughout its history.
03:19And I know we'll see it again in the days and weeks ahead.
03:23May God bless the people of New Orleans.
03:26May God bless our police and our first responders.
03:29May God protect our troops.
03:30And we'll keep you fully, contemporaneously informed.
