00:00A Tesla Cybertruck erupted in flames outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas
00:11on Wednesday, leaving one person dead and seven others injured.
00:20The incident occurred just hours after a separate attack in New Orleans, where a man drove a
00:25truck into New Year's Day crowds, killing 15.
00:30Authorities are investigating whether the Las Vegas explosion was an act of terrorism.
00:35So the question is, is there any links to ISIS?
00:37And I will tell you that we don't have any indication of that here in Las Vegas, no overt
00:42ISIS flag as was seen in in New Orleans.
00:45But again, we are investigating every aspect of this.
00:49And if that comes to light, we'll certainly update you.
00:51As of right now, our number one goal is to ensure that we have the proper identification
00:56of the subject involved in this incident.
00:58Following that, our second objective is to determine whether this was an act of terrorism
01:03or not.
01:04I know everybody's interested in that word and trying to see if we can say, hey, this
01:06is a terrorist attack.
01:08That is our goal.
01:09And that's what we're trying to do.
01:10We believe this is an isolated incident.
01:12We do not believe that there's a bunch of folks out there supporting this or helping
01:16this.
01:17And we don't believe that there's any other danger to the community right now.
01:19Schwartz revealed that the Cybertruck had been rented in Colorado, but the driver's
01:24identity has not yet been made public.
01:28Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who serves as an advisor to President-elect Donald Trump, clarified
01:34that the explosion was not related to the Cybertruck's design or functionality.
01:39The Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas is owned by the Trump Organization, the business
01:44entity of President-elect Donald Trump, who is set to return to the White House on January
01:4920th.
