00:00One of the most important factors in the development of a country is the improvement of transportation.

00:06That is why the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marquez Jr.

00:10has set aside several projects that will not only facilitate the lives of Filipinos,

00:16but will also speed up the development of the country.

00:20We will now return to the PTV Highlights 2024.

00:24Hina Bernard Ferrer and Del Custodio.

00:27Transportation is one of the eight points of the socio-economic agenda

00:32under the medium-term fiscal framework of the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marquez Jr.

00:38LRT-1, LRT-2, and MRT-3 are the first to serve the public.

00:43LRT-1 opened its year with VITA Extension Phase 1,

00:47which includes five new stations, including the Redemptories Asiana Station,

00:52Nia Road Station, PITX Station, Ninoy Aquino Avenue Station, and Dr. Santos Station.

00:59This is the first railway project completed under the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marquez Jr.

01:04through the Public-Private Partnership of PPP.

01:08The construction of MRT-7, North-South Commuter Railway System, Metro Manila Subway,

01:15and MRT-3 Rehabilitation and Maintenance continues.

01:19MRT-4, PNR South Long Haul Project, and Mindanao Railway Project Phase 1 are in the pre-construction stage.

01:27The Department of Transportation of DOTR and Japan International Cooperation Agency, or JICA,

01:34has a 30-year master plan to speed up the system of transportation in the country.

01:39With the collaboration of our friends from Japan and the international railway community,

01:46we can reclaim the glory of Philippine railways through modern and eco-friendly trails,

01:52comfortable and efficient rides, while maintaining its status as the most affordable public transport.

02:00The return of Air France's direct flight from Manila to Paris was also historic after two decades.

02:07This is also the first direct connection between the Philippines and Europe since the COVID-19 pandemic.

02:14The so-called direct flight is expected to strengthen the tourism and economy of the two countries.

02:20The Department of Public Works and Highways, or DPWH,

02:24was also involved in the implementation of the Infrastructure Flagship Project of the Administration.

02:29Among the completed projects are the Smart Pacific Coastal Road Project,

02:33the Flag Race Improvement and Management Project for the Cagayan de Oro River,

02:38the Integrated Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation Measures

02:43for the low-lying areas of the Pampanga Bay Project.

02:46The High Standard Highway Network Development Plan of the DPWH also includes

02:51the construction of highways and expressways that will connect strategic economic zones,

02:56tourist destinations, and production centers nationwide.

03:00The DPWH also prioritizes the improvement of the 3,082 kilometers Maharlikay Highway,

03:06the main road of transportation in the country.

03:11The DOTR and Metro Manila Development Authority helped

03:15for the two additional stations in EDSA Busway.

03:18EDSA PhilAm and Kamuning Station were added to the busway.

03:22Elevators were also installed in some footbridges that connect to the busway,

03:26which is a big help for persons with disability.

03:29The MMDA installed a Smart Traffic Surveillance System in the busway from the DOTR fund.

03:35The Philippine Development Plan projects for the new Philippines are followed.

03:41More than 80 motorists a day will benefit from the opening of the Enlex-Candava Third Viaduct

03:47that connects Bulacan and Pampanga.

03:50Standing as a testament to this administration's commitment to the Build Better More Program,

03:55this also shows that we are building the foundation to nurture the development of our countryside.

04:02Let me assure everyone that the Department of Transportation and the Toll Regulatory Board

04:07are implementing measures to ease congestion and to ensure smoother travel across this corridor.

04:14The Modernization Project has already started at Lagindingan Airport

04:17through the Private-Public Partnership Concession Agreement

04:21led by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. last October.

04:24In the 12.5 billion pesos agreement,

04:27it is expected that 3.9 million passengers will benefit from the first phase of the airport expansion

04:33and 6.3 million passengers will benefit from the second phase.

04:36The DOTR and its partners in the private sector continue to work together

04:41to provide quality services to passengers in Northern Mindanao.
