00:00A few hours before the beginning of the new year, a tragedy happened to some of our countrymen in Tondo, Manila.

00:08It was after a residential area was burned last night, where five minors were buried.

00:17Denise Osorio was at the center of the news.

00:30Aside from the screaming of the fire, there is only one thing that can be heard from the chaos in this CCTV footage.

00:41One night before the beginning of the new year, a fire broke out in the lives of five minors in Malvar Street, Tondo, Manila.

00:48The five minors, aged 8 to 14, were trapped in a three-story building.

00:54Because of the grills that were locked.

00:57According to a barangay resident, it was easy for the children's grandfather to enter the house to greet them.

01:06But he couldn't go up because of the fire.

01:10My grandfather woke me up because I was trapped in the cell.

01:13He said, slowly, slowly, there's a smell of electricity.

01:17I went to the third floor, but I didn't smell anything.

01:23When I went down, I saw my son smoking in the second-floor room.

01:27He wasn't there, they were fighting.

01:30I knocked on the door.

01:34When I opened the door, the fire started.

01:38The neighbors immediately called for help.

01:41The firefighters also arrived five minutes later.

01:45But there was no water in the tanks, so there was no fire extinguisher.

01:50The Metro had to be destroyed to get water from the line.

01:55To put water in the tanks, to pump it up.

01:59Because they couldn't just empty the tanks.

02:03According to the barangay residents, the children's parents are at work.

02:09And here in Manila, some of them will have a new year.

02:13Because they weren't able to visit last Christmas.

02:16We heard that the two children came from Cavite.

02:21They will have a new year here, that's why they were brought here.

02:25The firefighters also added, not just one family lives in a three-story building.

02:31The burned houses, nine families.

02:36And the other one, only one family.

02:39According to one source,

02:42the children's houses are almost stacked on the sides of the grills.

02:47According to the BFP,

02:49they won't be able to enter the house because it's too narrow.

02:53And the house is also hard to enter because the third floor has already collapsed.

03:00One of the children they got is at the door of the terrace.

03:04And the other four are at the terrace itself, at the grills.

03:07The firefighters had to go outside to destroy the lock.

03:12At 11.25 p.m., the fire was declared out.

03:16And the fire is still under investigation.
