00:02who are celebrating Christmas without a home after a fire broke out

00:06in a house in Paupahan.

00:08This is Isaiah Meropuente in Detaile.

00:13This family was trapped because of a fire

00:16when the residents of Barangay 310, Santa Cruz, Manila were burned.

00:20They had no other choice

00:23because the fire was too strong.

00:25The PDLs in Manila City Jail were blown up

00:28because of the fire in every house in the prison.

00:33It was just before midnight when the fire broke out

00:36in the third house of Paupahan.

00:38We couldn't bring the fire extinguisher

00:41because the fire was too strong

00:43because of the light material.

00:44It was difficult for the firefighters to save the fire

00:47because of the narrow roads in the area.

00:50The fire started in the middle of the residential area.

00:55Some of the personnel from Manila City Jail

00:58needed help in extinguishing the fire.

01:01Fortunately, the prison has a firewall

01:04and it has high ceilings

01:05so it didn't get damaged.

01:07Carol's family didn't know how to start again

01:11so they couldn't save anyone.

01:14Because the fire started right behind their house.

01:18We only got the bag of documents

01:22and these are our clothes.

01:24We didn't bring any clothes.

01:26These are the only clothes we wore.

01:28Until now, the fire is still going on.

01:31About 500 families seem to celebrate Christmas

01:34without a home because of the fire.

01:37Two were injured

01:39and one of them had a second-degree burn.

01:42The fire started in the mid-portion of the area.

01:50The road is narrow

01:55so we can get the focal point of the fire.

02:01In the residential area,

02:03every year, there's a fire in their area.

02:06Most of the houses are made of light materials.

02:10The Bureau of Fire Protection

02:12investigated the cause of the fire

02:14and the damage caused.
