00:00The Bureau of Corrections, or Bucor, released over 1,000 persons deprived of liberty, or PDLs,

00:05from November to December, bringing the total for 2024 to more than 7,000. Among those freed

00:12have completed their sentences, were granted parole, or acquitted. Bucor Director General

00:17Gregorio Gatapan clarified, PDLs covered by the Good Conduct Time Allowance, or DCTA law,

00:23will be released starting next year, following new procedural guidelines.

00:27The releases are part of Bucor's ongoing efforts

00:30to reduce the prison population while ensuring compliance with legal procedures.
