00:00The New Year is only days away and the set up for the iconic Sydney Harbour fireworks
00:07is in full swing.
00:09Here on Glebe Island in Roselle, this is the most intense time of the year, especially
00:15this time around as the event is set to be the biggest on record.
00:21Crews here have been working tirelessly in the 12 days leading up to the New Year to
00:25make sure the nine tonnes of fireworks on the night go off without a hitch.
00:30Foti Fireworks, who have created the display for 28 years, have taken the show this year
00:36to new heights.
00:37One of the new installations is four aerial drones acting as airborne firework barges
00:43which can each support 150 pyrotechnics.
00:47This year will also mark the first time fireworks will be launched from the western side of
00:51the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
00:52There's now 264 firing points on the Sydney Harbour Bridge, so for the first time we're
00:59firing on the western side of the bridge, so from the lower cord and the gantry, so
01:07we're trying to give the west the same sort of feel as what the east is doing in getting.
01:13Thousands of boats and one million people are expected to attend Sydney Harbour to watch
01:18the event.
01:19Those coming in person are reminded to plan their trip and arrive early, as vantage points
01:25are expected to fill up quickly.
01:27For those bringing in the New Year at home, ABC will be broadcasting the fireworks live
01:33from 8.30pm.
