00:40Despite the virus challenges faced by the agricultural sector as a result several programs and measures

00:48Were implemented such as the expansion of the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund or RCEF

00:55House Bill number 10381 it shall be known as Republic Act number 12078

01:01Entitled an act amending Republic Act number 8178 or the Agricultural Tarification Act as amended by Republic Act number 11203

01:13Before the year ends President Ferdinand Marquez Jr. signed the amended Republic Act

01:1812078 or the Agricultural Tarification Act which extends the RCEF for another six years

01:26the amended law aims to help farmers improve production and boost competitiveness amid the challenges of

01:34Globalization and trade President Marquez Jr. emphasized that reduction in post-harvest losses

01:41Of rice could benefit nearly 3.4 million Filipinos

01:48Under the RCEF Mechanization Program, the President distributed agricultural machinery worth of 19 million pesos

02:0010 farmers cooperatives and associations in Nueva Ecija received these machineries

02:07Virus production and post-harvest machinery worth 15.5 million pesos were distributed to 9 farmers cooperatives

02:16and associations in the province of Antique

02:24In addition, the President also settled land debts and distributed land to farmers so they could increase

02:32Their income and harvest for more produce. In November, the President distributed over

02:392,900 certificates of condonation

02:42With release of mortgage and 34 certificate of land ownership award to more than

02:492,000 farmers in Pampanga. According to the President, the government has written off

02:56206.38 million pesos in debts of agrarian reform beneficiaries

03:05Among the factors that challenge farmers to reap abundant and good harvest

03:11Were El Niño, the storms, and typhoons

03:17As a result, the President distributed

03:2010,000 pesos each under the Presidential Assistance for Farmers, Fisherfolk, and Families of PATH

03:27This December, under PATH, the President distributed assistance in Albay and Camarinesur

03:34amounting to 100 million pesos

03:36Benefiting around 10,000 farmers and fishermen

03:43And just this September, President Ferdinand Marquez, Jr. launched the Agri-Pujunan Program with the Department of Agriculture

03:51as partner agency. The program seeks to increase farmers' productivity

03:57and income through the provision of affordable funding, financial assistance, and a ready market for their harvest

04:07For the dry cropping season from 2024 to 2025, the program will fund

04:1450,000 hectares of land owned by farmers and cooperatives

04:18It will start with established cooperatives under the National Irrigation Administration, the Upper Pampanga River Irrigation System,

04:27Magat River Integrated Irrigation System, and NIA Systems serving the Caldeliera Administrative Region

04:37The Marquez Administration will continue to implement measures, programs that

04:43benefit the farmers of the country, ensuring good harvests, and helping them keep up with the challenges of

04:51globalization, trade, and climate. In the New Philippines, the agricultural sector is crucial to the development of the economy
