00:00Are we seeing a ramping up of attacks ahead of Trump coming into office because we've
00:05heard about him saying that he wants to end this tension, this conflict on his first day
00:11back?
00:12Well, certainly it seems that way.
00:14Donald Trump has said he wants to have negotiations.
00:16Now, he said he wants to sort this war out in 24 hours.
00:19That seems a very challenging thing to achieve.
00:23But clearly he wants to enter in some kind of negotiation, some kind of ceasefire discussion
00:27between both sides.
00:29And therefore you see Russia ramping up its attacks, including on civilian infrastructure
00:33like power plants, but also pushing on the eastern front, pushing towards the town of
00:37Pokrovsk and possibly planning an assault on the city of Kherson as well.
00:43Not entirely clear what their plan is there, but you sense that Russia is escalating, is
00:47pushing harder, is striking harder to break Ukrainian morale and try and get some gains
00:53ahead of any possible negotiations.
00:55If they want to freeze the front line, they are now trying to get as much Ukrainian territory
01:00from the country as possible.
