00:00With its 192 meters, the deepest lake in Bavaria casts a spell over everyone.
00:26Nestled in the valley between the Watzmann, Jenner and Hagen mountains, rare species of
00:31fish frolic in its emerald green water.
00:34It is a place for unforgettable moments and photo opportunities that you only get once
00:40in a lifetime.
00:41Enclosed by steep mountain slopes, about 5 kilometers south of Berchtesgaden, lies Germany's
00:47highest lake at 603 meters above sea level.
00:51You should escape the hustle and bustle of the lakeside tourist village of Schönau
00:56and take a boat trip to Sankt Bartholomä, where the world-famous chapel with its onion
01:00domes is located on the western shore.
01:03Sankt Bartholomä is the landmark of Lake Königsee and can only be reached by boat.
01:09The world-famous Pilgrimage Church, whose first buildings date back to the 12th century,
01:14is picturesquely situated on a peninsula in the west.
01:18Next to it is the former hunting lodge, which is now an idyllic inn.
01:25Shipping on the Königsee was already extremely progressive in 1909, and even then people
01:31were thinking about the environment.
01:33Since then, the Königsee has only been navigated by electrically powered motorboats, which
01:38glide tranquilly across the lake to this day.
01:48We walk along the lake shore, and then turn off onto a forest path.
02:49After a while, we reach the St. John and Paul Chapel.
03:05Below it rushes the ice creek, which is fed by the melt water of a glacier on the south
03:10side of the Wattsman Mountain.
03:26We continue by boat to the southern end of Lake Königsee.
03:40The Schreinbach Creek meets the Königsee with its impressive waterfall, and then we
03:45are already at the southernmost landing stage, Sally, from where we hike to the romantic
03:50Obersee.
03:56The fisherman's hut on the western shore of the Obersee greets us from afar.
04:04And after a while, we reach an enchanted looking spot in the forest by the Obersee.
