00:00The National Commission for the Rights of Human Beings, or Komnas HAM, stated that in the January-December period of 2024,

00:08as many as 113 incidents took place in Papua based on the results of media surveillance carried out by Komnas HAM.

00:16In a press conference held at the Komnas HAM office in Jakarta on 18 December,

00:22Ketua Komnas HAM, Adnike Nova Sigiro, stated that as many as 85 out of 113 cases were armed conflict and violent.

00:31There were a number of types of actions, including 24 gunshots, 4 raids, and 23 attacks by armed civilian groups.

00:40Then there were 4 raids with a large number of victims, 8 injuries, 34 attacks on civilians, and violent acts by law enforcement.

00:51Adnike also said that the Central Papua province was the most vulnerable area for conflict and violence.

00:58Throughout 2024, the highest number of armed conflict and violence incidents took place in Intan Jaya, Central Papua,

01:07as many as 22 incidents, followed by 17 incidents in Puncak, still in Central Papua,

01:1513 incidents in Puncak Jaya, Central Papua,

01:1912 incidents in Paniai, Central Papua,

01:2210 incidents in Yaukimo, Papua Pegunungan,

01:267 incidents in Duga, Papua Pegunungan,

01:30and 7 incidents in Bintang, Papua Pegunungan province.

01:40Various incidents took the lives of victims and left many dead.

01:44Komnas HAM also called for the cessation of armed contact and other violence to all parties,

01:49also asked the security apparatus to use proportional and measured security to prevent the existence of other victims.

01:56The restoration of public services facilities and social economic conditions were also called for by Komnas HAM.
