00:00The Commission on Elections, COMELEC, reminded the candidates and the government agencies

00:06that the Pondo ng Bayan will not be used for the campaign in the upcoming elections,

00:12especially in the programs that will be exempted from the Election Spending Ban.

00:21The Pondo ng Bayan will not be used for the campaign.

00:25This is what the Commission on Elections reminded the candidates and the government agencies

00:31that the Pondo ng Bayan will not be used for the campaign in the upcoming elections,

00:36especially in the programs that will be exempted from the Election Spending Ban.

00:44Some of the first programs to be exempted are the DOLE programs like TUPAD and others.

00:49The Department of Health, National Housing Authority,

00:53Municipal Social Welfare Development in Bohol,

00:55Department of Agriculture, BIFAR, CHED, and other LGUs will also be exempted.

00:59The Commission on Elections will not be an obstacle to the aid, especially,

01:05that the government is providing because it is a privilege that we all accept.

01:12But COMELEC said that this is not only for the candidates,

01:16but also for the government agencies.

01:19Their reminders are not limited to the Spending Ban.

01:21COMELEC said that if the government agencies allow the politicians to distribute aid,

01:27they will chase the officials behind this.

01:30Once someone complained to us that this was used for politics,

01:34and it was only given to a group of voters because they are supporters,

01:39we can stop it and withdraw the exemption anytime.

01:43It's not an absolute exemption.

01:45There's no compensation.

01:47We can compensate them anytime.

01:48We can sue the officials who are responsible.

01:52COMELEC explained that for places with calamities,

01:56like San Egros Island,

01:57that will provide aid because of the volcano eruption,

02:01it's better if the LGUs or government agencies will distribute it.

02:06Meanwhile, COMELEC has not yet received a request for exemption

02:11from the programs of the DSWD.

02:14When it comes to the fund and ACAP program of the DSWD,

02:17COMELEC will study if it will also prohibit 10 days before the election,

02:23like what they did in the AICS program.

02:26The AICS absolutely prohibited 10 days before the election.

02:31We were asked yesterday in an interview

02:34if ACAP will also prohibit 10 days before the election.

02:39The commission will study what should be done in ACAP,

02:45if it is the same as AICS,

02:47and if it should have the same treatment as AICS.

02:51COMELEC will still receive a request before January 12

02:55for those who want to be exempted from the spending ban.
