Oil stains wash ashore after storm damages Russian oil tankers

One of the two Russian oil tankers damaged during a storm in the Kerch Strait on Sunday spilled an estimated 3,700 tonnes of oil.

00:31which is a low-quality heavy fuel oil.

00:35Last week, the European Union issued new sanctions against Russia and their so-called Shadow

00:39Fleet, which consists of oiled uninsured tankers to circumvent Western restrictions.

00:46The European Union and the shipping industry previously expressed their concerns over Russia's

00:51use of the poorly maintained vessels as they pose significant environmental as well as

00:56safety threats.
