00:00Get rid of your crap. It can seem like such a hard task to become a minimalist and get rid of all the crap in your home.
00:07And here's three things that I did to sort out the state of this kitchen cupboard.
00:10Number one, if I haven't used it in 12 months, it's gone.
00:13Number two, got rid of all the items I was keeping just in case I might need to use them in the future.
00:18Number three, used glass jars to maximise the space and keep things looking nice and tidy.
00:25I always get my clothes out the night before to start my day off nice and organised.
00:28And then I just spend 10 minutes every day planning out how my day is going to go to keep my mind nice and clear and organised.
00:34I always do try and fit in time for a lunchtime walk.
00:37And then today I went for a facial, which I definitely don't get to do every day.
00:40Came home, made tea and packed lunches.
00:43Spent an hour working on myself and my goals.
00:45And then made sure I fit in time in the evening to chill out and wind down.
00:51Do you not like the idea of becoming a minimalist? It'd be overwhelming because then you will never start.
00:56You need to set yourself realistic goals and targets.
00:59If I was starting out, I would start off by decluttering everything in the house.
01:03And that is not an overnight job.
01:05Do it one room at a time, or one section at a time.
01:08Split your room up into three sections.
01:10Under the bed, the wardrobe, all the items that are on show.
01:13Give yourself a time frame to clear out each section, but also clear out the whole room.
01:18You might give yourself about a week to do each section, then a whole month to make sure that the full room is done.
01:24Do that for every room.
01:25The most important part about this is that you need to be brutal.
01:28If you have not used it in 12 months, honestly sometimes I go by the rule of 6 months, then get rid of it.
01:35Once you've done this, it's a mindset shift.
01:37You cannot keep going into shops, picking things up thinking, oh that looks nice, put that in my basket.
01:42Because no, that's when things turn into clutter.
01:45You need to know exactly why you're buying it and what you're buying it for.
01:48And exactly where you're going to store it.
01:50And if you don't have an answer to those two questions, then don't buy it.
01:53Is anyone else just so unbothered by everything at the minute?
01:56Like honestly, if you just give me wholesome weekends, true friends, a bit of time to focus on my goals, early nights, self-care,
02:03and I am happy, like I do not need these wild nights out or a massive circle of friends.
02:08I would genuinely rather put my time into fitness, journaling, spending quality time with people that I actually love and care about.
02:15And I genuinely do think that is one of the principles of being a minimalist, is choosing quality over quantity.
02:19And that is in literally everything.
02:21With like how I spend my days, where I focus my energy, my relationships, what I do in my spare time.
02:26Like minimalism is not about all the physical stuff.
02:29Yeah, it is definitely a big part of it.
02:31And getting rid of all the crap that surrounds you that you don't need, that just clutters your brain up.
02:35But about the other side of life in terms of how you spend your time,
02:38and getting rid of things that don't align with who you are, or that don't bring peace to your life.
02:42Or even to start doing more things that do bring peace to your life.
02:46Because honestly, I am feeling the most content and most at peace that I have ever felt in my entire life.
03:16Thank you for watching!
